im looking forward to buy a portable mp3/divx player, with tv out so that i can use it as a divx player and watch my movies on tv too. so far only creative zen vision M comes to my mind, i want to know what kinda divx does it support, as far as i know it doesnt support ac3. anyother player out there that has these featurures?

Vision M is an excellent choice. Been using it for 6 months :hap2:.
It can play xvid, divx, mpg1/2, wmv, and m-jpg at 720 x 576, 2000kbps.
It's not widescreen though, Vision W's for that. On the flipside, the Vision M is a lot lighter and has better sound quality.
It supports divx 4 and above and has excellent TV output features.
I think there are better players from Cowon and Archos but they probably cost a lot more.

I've been using my ZVM for more than a year now :D Its awesome, and the new 60gb model is as thick as the 30gb model :)

thanks for the quick reply fellas, hows the tv out quality of visionM and the compatibility with divx and xvid files(does it play all the divx and xvid or any particular ones?) and as i said before what do you do abt its lack of support of ac3.

can you guys also tell me the price of vision M.

It's excellent.

the compatibility with divx and xvid files(does it play all the divx and xvid or any particular ones?)
It's played all I've asked it to play without fuss.:D

what do you do abt its lack of support of ac3.
Well, there's not much you can do about tha lack of AC3 support, and it's not coming with a new firmware either. Use AC3filter to convert the sound back to mp3.

Check ebay.in for an estimate.

i bouth zvm 30gb version today for 11k. it didnt come with tv out cable and the cable i bought with it (for rs300) doesnt seem to work. any idea about where to get the cable and what kinda cable i should get. the one i bought is "yes" cable.

i found the problem. the cable i bouth is "ipod video cable". and that wouldnt work on zvm cause it has ground where it should be video and vice versa, same applies for left and right channels but thats not a big deal. so i think ill cut the cable and replace ground with video and it will work. i am in no mood of spending another rs. 1000 for just an av cable from creative.

ah ok...thnx dude, btw which shop? no warranty i guess

and in NP, which shop did u enquire it from?

EDIT : just noticed u were talking abt the M, did u enquire prices of W?? both Palika and NP

high import duties are the reason of the big price difference.

in nehru place i enquired from many shops, including smc. they all told me its 14500.

in palika mkt i bought it from shop no. 91. the price of W was around 18k.

AC3 is used mainly with DVD's that too only ones with NTSC. Funny thing i noticed here is that the pirated ones are also NTSC+AC3, cos, thats the only audio format that every DVD player (if it has the DVD logo then it supports AC3) has to support. In PAL countries they use MP2 (not MP3 !!), but then the american DVD players don't have to support mp2. PAL players can handle NTSC w/o probs but not vice versa.

Rip the DVD to xvid and use that instead. You will be able to shrink the size with not much perceived loss, since xvid is mpeg-4 whereas DVD is only mpeg-2. I think there is support for surround sound in xvid too.
