Possible to d/l one piece of a torrent download ?

Hi,
I just started using bit torrent, I'm using the utorrent client. I downloaded the OpenOffice 2.0 file ( 74 MB ). At the end, the client reported that "PIECE 166 FAILED HASH CHECK". The exe file also reports it is corrupt.

What I want to know is if it is possible to d/l only that piece. From what I read about bit torrent, this should be possible. Know any way / any client that allows you to do that ?

Thanks.

Use bitcomet. It allows you to download a part of the whole file. The only requirement is the torrent should be seeded as parts rather than a single file. For e.g. a .rar of openoffice package.

But bt shud automatically correct thius. BT runs checks itself, and if there is any error it will automatically redld the offending piece. Just try resuming the torrent, it will fins that one part is bad and will redld that, but sometimes it takes some time to do that.

^^ yup, if one piece fails the hash check, it will be d/l automatically. i have faced this prob of corrupted parts many times, but it is taken care of by the client itself

Yes hashing quite takes care of that, but since this is a new client and i havent used it i dint comment about that. Could be a bug as well who knows.

@PoBoy: Have u tried re-downloading the torrent and recheck the whole file.

OK. utorrent is a really cool program, just 98k at that. It has an option "Force Re-Check" which does just what I wanted. Check it out, recommended.
