A friend of mine may take one- he is in the process of deciding if he should buy a 5770 or a 5850.
How much warranty do these have?

How could this detail miss from such a senior member like you..hyeah:

He has clearly written in his opening post that bought on 16th Jan 2010 from IT wares so obviously 3 years local warranty i.e. till 15th Jan 2013:hap2::hap2:

The same card is being sold new by the same guy (itwares) for 1.3k more than what you are offering. People are going to think about pushing that much for a "New / Never Opened" over a "3 month used" product.

I'm saying this as I'd consider buying it if you ever considered dropping the price a bit (Yep, i can read, you said you wont do it, but what's for trying huh?) Also it'd be great if you could put up a reason for sale.

You obviously do not know Shripad
He is the last person to delete a post no matter how offensive posted against his item
Your post is not offensive at all, it educates the buyer about the price for the new card.

A 15% discount on a very fast moving item used for only 1-2 month is quite attractive to a buyer who would have bought the item anyway at full price.
As far as opening the shroud is concerned, that helps the new buyer has he has applied paste on the chip so that the cooling is improved.
Moreover as he tests these products, you can be sure he knows what he is doing.
Also I am sure it does not void the warranty or Shripad would have told you before hand.

There's a different philosophy - a guy wanting to buy a new card will do so anyway, he wont look at a 15% discount. It's guys like me, ones who want to buy a used card who'll look at these trades. And I wont really care that it's "only 3 months used", i'll only care "oh, that's just 15% off the new price, if i'm going to pay 8.5, i might as well shell out 1.5 more and get the new one. why should i buy a used one?"

Nobody is forcing anybody to buy a used one..Go ahead & buy a new one.
If you feel the 15% discount is not sufficient to warrant a sale..don't worry there will be no sale & the seller will be forced to reduce his prices if he really wants to sell..Its a free economy & not a controlled commodity.

At least i would take up a offer for a 15% discount in such a case if I was going to buy anyways at the full price. No harm in saving 1500 bucks just for the namesake of a new card!!! Moreover i would get a tested card with a free Thermal paste application applied by a PRO!!!

Don't get restless & think that because of your post Shripad will reduce his prices within an hour of posting.
Give him some time to see the response & then PM him your offer for his consideration if there is no sale if you want a substantial discount to his quoted price.

Nah, that's called negotiating ;-)

Only another seller can lowball his offer - at least that's my understanding. Potential buyers can work towards a better deal by trying to convince the seller.

When u quote a price of 5k for a 10k card its not called negotiating...its lowballing...
Although u never quoted a price but u have done enough commenting...That's the reason new comers are not given access to mkt threads directly....
Anyways...dude use private messaging system for negotiating and its b/n buyer and seller

Afaiu, a lowball bid, is when another seller having the same item for sale comes up and posts in this thread saying "I have the same item and i'm willing to let it go for price x" - x being significantly lesser than the price that the op is expecting.

Unless i am drastically wrong, this is quite a universally accepted definition.

I've always believed and posted on this forum that we are a part of open community and even in the market section we have a right to voice our opinion in the sale threads, a thing which is termed "crapping the thread" by many.

Mere opening a sale thread by any member doesn't means he owns it like a shop where shopkeeper has every right to say "get out and get lost" to any person he likes or dislikes. I've seen a rightly priced product is sold in no time and Op's product will be no exception.:hap2:

At the same time, constant haggling by Mr. puppeteerX should not be encouraged. His concerns upto first post was bearable, but after that it became too much. He was lucky to have Shripad as the OP, otherwise "uska first post ab tak delete ho jata".

Since Mr. puppeteerX had no intention in buying the product, his constant bashing just to "EDUCATE" others is uncalled for and should not be tolerated.
A 15% discount on the current price for a product which is less than 2 month old is a good deal IMHO.:cool2:

For starters, for some strange reason i find this place extremely hostile to newcomers. I've seen a few people just hold me out for "not being an old member". If you guys think that makes so much of a difference to be voicing opinions, well, take it up with the ones concerned.

And yes, i do have an intention of buying a used card, i even have another thread going for it, so the "no intention of buying" is uncalled for. I believe i have the right to try and get the seller to sell me a product at a budget that i can afford, without having to take flak from other randoms around.

It's not like this forum does not welcomes newcomer. After all we all were newcomers at some time. It is only that we expect them to follow the rules and guidelines made by the forum admins.
I also find some of the forum rules awkward, but I love this forum so much that I still follow them.
And since you have the intention of buying the card, all the best. Believe me some times you'll get very best deals on this forum.

I think if you want to "exercise your right" to get the Seller to sell you his product at your budget, I suggest you hold a gun to his head....these cheap tactics of sabotaging the thread do not work in this forum.:tongue:

Why can't you just give your reasoning for what the pricing should be according to you and let it be and let the members decide for themselves. You can't accuse just one party of crapping the thread. It goes both ways.

His initial posts & the responses to them had no hard feeling or bad blood. He started it by indirectly implying that Shripad is a Global Mod so he is being arrogant in his pricing.
Thereafter he continued to rant about the product being used again & again to prevent anybody from buying it, which he agrees himself & which is malicious in my opinion as he had a vested interest in pulling down the prices.

As a responsible Forum member you have given the true price for a new product & given the drawbacks of buying the used product and he should have stopped at that.
Thereafter the market forces will decide whether the sale will be made or not. No member will buy from Shripad at a higher price just because he has quoted it even if he is a mod unless he sees value in it.

BTW puppeteer has been favored by the Mods by allowing his WTB Thread with less then 20 posts to his credit.

As he is a newbie he has to learn the ethics of posting in case he is not aware of the same even if it be the hard way.
if he runs hard, he cannot expect a soft landing.

Why did you mean by writing this line..You are a Mod anyway..? This clearly implies that he is misusing is position to push his product

& you think that guys who are standing for you doing you a favour?..no they are only making you more arrogant & reducing your chances of continuing in this forum meaningfully.
You are digging a deeper hole for yourself with each post.
If a person admits a mistake, it does not make him smaller but in fact taller & also reminds him not to make the same mistake again, but if he convinces himself that he did no wrong, then he will keep committing that same mistake again & again.
What is malicious is malicious & even if 100 members bat for you, it will not become justified.

Moreover, if the rules for creating thread in the Trade forum has been reduced to only 5 posts..then I will certainly write to the mods to reconsider their decision in view of what happens when newbies are allowed to post

Lets just stop with these inane interpretations. You are drawing a pretty strong implication there from his posts, and some others here have too. I would never condone a behavior you are accusing him of. But I am sorry I can't perceive any of that from his postings here. I think people are reading too much into it.

Rather than supporting any person or his viewpoint, what I am supporting is for members to freely express their opinions here. Its a fine line to tread and I think mods here are doing a fine job of moderating, but it is the views of the members that made me comment in first place. Lets have some sane thinking going on here rather than a mob rule.

I apologise but I had to post this, and hope that thread goes back to its intended purpose.
