One of my friends got an Xbox 360S from the US. The power adapter is rated at 110-120V so he needs a new one for India.

Can he get one from India like this one ?

Will it work without any problems or damage to the Xbox?

@H2O
You can buy a new Power Brick/Adapter as you put it. It will work fine.
Alternatively, you can pick up a step down converter which is rated for at least 500VA. This should cost you anywhere between 1-1.5k depending on where you buy it.

Hope this helps. Hit me up if you have more questions.

I have the same query guys. I have a step down transformer rated @ 1600 W. Would this suffice for using the US power brick in India?

A friend of mine got a generic power brick for his xbox 360 (bought from US) from ebay.in and the xbox stopped working after few days.
Please stay away from generic power bricks.

If you have something like this then it won't work or will work for a very short period before overheating.

Would you recommend buying a new power brick instead, 'cos a new power brick costs ~Rs. 2000 or so..

yes that is the thing that is required. I got a 500W Kundip branded one from VileParle Mumbai for around 1800. It works perfectly for a Blender that I have which is rated at 220W. It also has a 6 months warranty. If you have the newer 360E then the 350W will be more than sufficient. Check the power requirement on the brick and calculate the required output wattage. Get a transformer which is has a wattage rating above your total requirement.

Unfortunately the 360E US power brick that I have was connected directly and is busted. So I ended up buying a generic one available on ebay for 1999. It works fine but I would still have preferred using the original brick with the transformer.

I had inquired about getting an original one but that was costing around 3500 and I am not sure about the validity of the person's claim as he did not have it in stock.

If you have a 360S then you can probably get a duplicate brick for less than 1.5k and an original one for around 2.5K. I got these rates from Ninja Traders located near Crawford Market, Mumbai. They are very well known locally.

I just tried plugging in a 250W transformer (Kundip brand) and the console did not power on; instead i saw fumes coming out of the transformer. The XBOX 360 E draws 9.6A on 12V rail, hence I thought 250W should also suffice. I turned the whole thing off within 15 seconds. Surprisingly, the transformer fuse was intact and the transformer was still working when I took it back to the shop. I just hope my console is not fried!! gonna take it to Ninja Traders now..

Based on my experience from my recent ordeal in getting a US XBOX to work in India, I would strongly recommend buying a new power brick for the XBOX 360 (S or E model) from ebay instead of using transformer based voltage converters. I say this simply because there are chances you will end up with a poor quality transformer and end up frying your brick and not because using a voltage converter is not a good solution. This is what happened with me. Ultimately, I ended up buying a new power brick from Ebay for 1999 and that works just fine.
hope this helps!

We can be sure that the console will not get damaged based on our experiences :)

Do test the new brick over extended usage and check if it overheats. I have used this one continuously for an hour max and it did not cause any issues. Would love to have some feedback if you use it for a long time.
