Well i need an urgent answer.. buying the msi 8800gt oc.. (since xfx is out of stock) within this week.. should i try connecting my current 500watts powersafe smps with the card will it be able to take its load??? if now what is the cheapest and best upgrade i hve to upgrade my smps too?? coolermaster 600???

my rig is as follows:
c2d e6600 @ 2.4 stock .. 2X 1gb transcend 667 ram.. 1 250gb hdd 1 500 gb hdd
msi p965neo-f motherboard xfi xtreme music sound card...
so should i try connecting the card to my current rig??? or should i just play it safe and get the coolermaster???
also will there be any compatibility issues with the 8800gt and my mobo???

^^I think powersafe 500w will hold 8800gt and ur rig easily,So no worries and it will work with u mobo
BTW how much u paid for ur sound card

~~Rajesh~~

hmm well its already an oc version of the card

660 smething..

another thing the coolermaster is out of stock here

only the zebronics 600 watts platinum is available...is that any good??

^^^no till the time you cant get the coolermaster or corsair PSU, work with your powersafe. platinum wouldnt give you much added stability which is what you should be looking for.

ya the zebronics 600w will be enough for 8800gt. Im using a CM 500w extreme for my 8800GTX :P

zebronics, powersafe & all other cheap brands are not exactly rated at 50C :P

cm extreme power 600W (seventeam 500W inside) & all corsair psu's are rated at 50C ;) :ohyeah:

buy a Corsair VX450 Power Supply for 4k satanofgamers as windwithme has run the following on it:

CPU: INTEL Core 2 Extreme QX6800 @3.5GHz

MB: DFI LANParty DK P35 T2RS

DRAM: CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF

VGA: ELSA 8800GT 512MB

HDD: Seagate 7200.10 320GB

Cooler: Thermaltake V1

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/best-choice-quad-core-overclocking-dfi-102341.html

so your rig is child's play :P

but in the long run i would recommend a Corsair HX620 as that would last a lot longer even if you add more hdd's :)

why risk a brilliant rig just to save some bucks on a rigs most crucial part (power supply) ;)

wht abt 8600gt will it run with powersafe 400w? or i have to upgrade it also..?

8800Gt will run on 500W powersafe. It's not a great PSu but will be able to run your card. Just in case if you get stability problems, buy Corsair VX450W rated @ above 80% efficiency for around 4K. It's better than cooler master 600W rated at 70% efficiency. But of course cooler master is a cheaper option. :)

8600GT will run fine on Powersafe 400W. Just in case if you have stability problems get a 500W cooler master extreme power.
Have fun fragging :hap2:
