recently lights have been going off a lot at my place n coming back in like 2min.
so need to get a decent ups.

my dealer recommended this to me & quoted rs2000 for it.

i have no idea bout ups. i dont need something very expensive.

also how much is the backup time on this, the dealer told me 20 - 25min

Get Powercom 600VA instead.. Tho i couldn really comment on d after-sales on it..

Or get d Wipro 600VA; shud b around d same price...

not so great...only useful if u have a 15"...it CANNOT give backup for a 19".......btw its for 1600 here...get the apc 800va is possible....4.5k..2 yrs warranty...thats the minimum presuming u r gonna use it for the machine in ur sig

Powersafe600- 1800/-!! price on 04-10-2005!!
Me got Powercom600 for 1850/- on 07-10-2005 for same prob as yours, as needed enough backup for safe shutdown!!
Small size, black!!
Pulled plug off mains and got 5 mins before i chickened out and did shutdown!! Me got 19" CRT!!
Maybe it can give more backup but i guess 5 mins enough for safe shutdown, generally!!
Selling my UPS- check MARKET!! Brand new with original packaging!! Will sell for less than MRP for sure!!
Got separate bill dated 04-10-2005!!
Can chk it out in action at my place!!
Post in Market or PM me if interested!!

YUP the Powercom 600 is nice - handles the load my 19" with 4 drives and a external cable modem and scanner and USB drives. I have one of these attached to my second computer. Had it for about 3 years with not a single problem.

approx how many minutes did your pc & monitor stay on eazy.

I never timed it on my main rig - but when I got the UPS I did test it on my second comp - a basic rig with a 17" monitor - and I think it ran for around 15 - 18 minutes I am not 100% sure of the time as I did the test 3 years back.

Anyone know whats the expected life of the battery inside these UPS ?

@Eazy:I think its pretty long; lik 3-4yrs..

@stormblast: Also, AFAIK Powercom is also d ONLY 600VA UPS that allows u to attach a external SMF batery to increase d Backup time even further!!

My vote goes for it.Or Wipro if u wanna hav d assurance of a better AfterSales coz Powercom is marketed by Zeta( which has a pretty horrible track record)

Powercom has 1yr warranty, Wipro has 2yrs..
