Hi. The BSNL guys installed the modem in bridge mode and I have to dial to get inet connection. I want to share the connection ( not sharing the dial-up ) and hence decided to switch over to PPPoE mode. I've set up every thing. Even the "internet" green led (which normally remains off in bridge mode ) turns on but I can't access internet. Any clue where I might have done wrong ?

Btw, I've chosen LLC/Snap-Bridging. There was another option VC/MUX but that didn't work too. :(

Did you enter the username and password of your BSNL broadband account correctly in the modem config page?

After making changes in the WAN option in config page, did you click on "Save/Reboot"?

After you start your modem, wait for 3-4 minutes. Then go to WAN sub menu of config page. See if any IP address is displayed or not.

Have you tried pinging any site like google or yahoo?

I've done all the steps. Rebooted the modem. I've run the diagnostics and it passed the connection to ISP, authentication etc. IP wa sassigned to the modem/router. But I couldn't access it thru' my PC. :(

have you enabled DHCP srever on the modem and also set your PC to "obtain IP automatically" ?

Yeah, I missed that part. But the funny thing is I can't find the DNS option now. :O

Even yesterday I saw that and entered DNS manually. :(

It was supposed to be in between Routing and DSL.

Well, I set the DNS using 192.168.1.10/dnscfg.html ( intuitive guess hovering over other options :P ) But still, I can't access net from PC. The router is getting connected and been assigned an IP.

not DNS, i was talking about DHCP ... can you read and reply the previous question above "did you click LAN option in the left menu and what does it show"?

also, if you open command prompt in your PC and paste the output of "ipconfig /all" here, we can see if you have configured your PC properly or not.

(both router and PC need to be configured for DHCP (not really DNS) to work, mainly gateway IP goes wrong...)

@sabby Can you post a screenshot of the device info page of your modem/router?

I have the exact same modem/router and it seems that you have a newer firmware as the config page has a bit different layout than mine.

@vishal sir, I've assigned static IP ( 192.168.1.13 )to my PC that is why turned off DHCP. Is it necessary for PPPoE mode ?? I don't think so.

And for your question, that page shows the options to set the IP of the modem ( which is 192.168.1.10 ), subnet mask, enabling / disabling DHCP, lease time etc.

@hotshot

buddy, I use http://192.168.1.10/main.html for this advanced menu. In the default menu, there's not much options.

Do not assign default gateway yourself. BSNL assigns it. In my case its 117.200.48.1

And apparently that did the trick. Thanks a lot. :hap2:

Btw, I couldn't find that ( enabling auto assign gateway ) in the post you linked.
