Looks like many spam posters registering and posting on TE now, must be these "work from home" marketing droids kinda folks.

Is it possible to enable auto moderation for first few posts of a new joinee for a period of say a week?

Meaning, if I join today and immediately post, it does not show up on TE but in a "moderation queue" which needs to be explicitly reviewed and allowed through... this can be enabled only for a fixed time say 1 week, meaning, if I join but only lurk for a week then start posting later then its fine...?
 
this is getting annoying. this mrsite is increasing his posts plz do something quick or he will take over the forum :O
 
I don't join forums which premoderate posts. Not that it counts, but I just prefer those that first trust and then penalise in case of infringement, it seems very hostile to pre-moderate and then approve users. Very K-K-K type of arrangement - prove you're worth it and then we'll let you join.

Both ways it's a lot of work for the mods, this suggestion may be even worth a lot more work. And it won't prevent a spammer, just force companies to hire more intelligent ones.
 
Well in case of mrsite he was posting the same stuff over 16 times. there must be a way for the system to figure this out and automatically ban him for half our or so until the mods can do something.
 
No no to the pre-moderation option. Too much work for the mods then. Especially ones who have other things to do as well.

Yes, if theres a way to detect exactly same posts and ban hte user temporarily, that may help in reducing the effect of such spammers :)
 
it could be delegated, some kind of big brother program for the people who frequent the site...

it will take some kind of work with permissions, but in the long run could prove beneficial for the community.

u cannot put a plugin to stop posting at high rate .
lets say i post msgs in different threads rapidly then a legtimate user will have problems .
and moderating all new posts from newbie is a mammoth task
come on guys mods also have work to do ...

how about making more use of Report Post Option?? :)

ppl can report post if found some1 spamming.

temporary ban in case one gets reported for 10+(all different posts) posts in 30mins.

mayb limited access if not ban..

10+ spam posts in less than 30mins is just an example...statistics can be manipulated as per judgment.
 
^Yes, you people can help us by reporting the post. It seems to be a particular sets of bots with the same link posting over here. We have already censored the main link so that way you people are safe. Just report the spammer and we'll take care of it. This will be much more easier for us as well :)
 
I guess my posts are still pre-moderated by the moderators at Team-BHP(I hardly post there).

I can say that I'm quite frustrated at my posts not even making it to that forum on time...so much so that I don't even check if anyone has bothered to respond to my question.

I think it will frustrate new users. Just my feedback.
