With the recent power cuts, we have decided to get an inverter/Ups setup for our home.
What would be the preferred brands? We are currently looking at Mircotech/Su-Kam/Luminous. Are they any other VFM offerings out there?

We would be looking for a 8xx Va Pure Sine Wave with Tubular batteries.

Planning to run the following,

2-3 Fans ( not simultaneously though)
3-4 Cfl's(11W)
1 Pc ( through a UPS, this is just for sudden emails or such)
1 modem/router
Tv for kicks! :P
Would a 800 Va do? Also, looking for 2-3 hours backup, so what battery capacity should we be looking at?

Also, do they make 3 Phase Inverters/Ups's? Or does one have to hook it up to one phase and use the phase converter?

Thanks!

I'm using a Su-kam falcon 800va (not the newer i series) with a su-kam 190aH battery. About 2 years old now, last i checked i got 6hr45mins runtime on a standard pc (monitor off) plus 2 fans running.

See: http://www.techenclave.com/storage-solutions/seagate-320gb-7200-12-wont-detect-168717.html.

I've tested it with the pc+22"lcd running+25"sony crt tv +4 fans+5 tubes. takes the load, though not recommended to run all that together. i always switch off the tv when the mains go. don't bother with tubular, all batteries will fail after a few years when their cells reach their EOL. For your use, a 150aH should suffice. It's not clear exactly what all you're gonna be running simultaneously, and if your monitor is an lcd. Also TV size matters but not much.
