TE PriceGuide v2.0

The new features added to TE PriceGuide are as follows -

1. Ability to submit your own product suggestion. Now you too can directly contribute to the TE PriceGuide. All suggestions will be reviewed by our volunteers and will be approved accordingly. A "Suggest Product" button has been added to the TE PriceGuide home page.

2. Ability to post comments for every product available in our database. There you can discuss a product and/or post price revisions etc. as and when you wish. All you have to do is click on the "Post Comment" link below the product you wish to comment on. While everyone can view the comments, only logged in TE members will be able to post comments.

3. The MyGuideâ„¢ feature - This will greatly reduce the amount of time you spend browsing unnecessary items and let you know the prices of only those products you're interested in. Since the information is made available in printable format, you can take a print-out too, if you like.

Hopefully, all these additions will make TE PriceGuide more interesting and attractive to the TE members. We believe the PriceGuide can be great use if used effectively. Without your support, it won't be possible. Do notify me incase you come across any errors/bugs etc.

Thanks.

Honestly speaking, gathering and presenting the pricing information in the said guide is not going to be very easy. Even tougher will be keeping it updated.

A rather more efficient approach will be to cull information from Price Threads (there are 4 such threads) and put it at one place in different categories and in form of chart as and when somebody posts some info in price threads. May be a few volunteers can be given access to modify the information in the charts as well as to add links to products pages/reviews to make it even more useful.

It's a Web 2.0 approach. The information is coming directly from the ground and from the hundreds of community members. The volunteers will simply be arranging that information. something that will take less time and I am sure will be more easy to access for a general user.

Also, here is one more suggestion. Instead of opening the price thread to public, simply open parts of it to the public. That may add more members to the site. Though, personally I will prefer the full charts to be available to the public.

Hi, Will the prices which are updated mention the city also?? (Prices differ form city to city)
Yep, I agree... Please add city / country details too. There are many members here who are in US, UK or other countries and it will be great to have price comparison with them. Also, this will mean a wider database of price & products.

Why not some sort of modifiable Wiki?

Adding a Wiki I believe opens up security holes in vB. We've considered it before, and had to drop it due to the same reason :)
