I don't know about Vietnam but in India its getting so expensive.
Private schools are open loot..
Even normal ones are atleast fees 3000- 4000 per month.
We use to pay Rs 400 per month. 22 years ago.
I once met a nice man on a trek..very well educated . He tells me.. his wife and he decided to drop out his class 2 child and now giving them home schooling . He clearly said it was not due to financial issue as he and his wife both do well. His wife even earning more than him. It was just he did not find value in the system with such high expense and thought home schooling was better approach .
I could not interact much with them as I was very tired on that day and next day they were gone.
I wish I had taken their number and talked a bit more....how they manage to take such bold decision for their children is something still makes me think.
But whatever it is one thing is for sure education in India is way way more expensive now in private schools .
For public school ...I feel it is getting better but still find many schools very poorly funded. Some villages I have been invited me to teach Maths and science in their schools as they didn't had teacher for that.
But subject was to be taught in Hindi.
Tbh I am not so strong in any language especially Hindi mein ganit .
Beside even If I had tried I still had to leave within a week or two .
But that was in remote village. So can't say every public school will be that bad.
I saw Kerala schools even public ones very well developed though.
No wonder these people have such high literacy rate.
No idea on fees structure there.
Spent some time there. Never saw any traffic police, or rather any police for that matter. They don't need it. People are highly disciplined. I never saw anyone breaking any road law, well, except one, me. Left-hand drive <> Right-hand drive, jumbling.
They have more vehicles than us per person, still you will never spend more than 30 seconds standstill. Southern cities are mad for big ass American trucks like F150 but still not much traffic (traffic is subjective, I'm comparing it with Indian traffic)
This is what I tell my friends jokingly. If I ever have kids, I'm homeschooling them. I find the current schooling that we have going on is unnecessary garbage. Again, it's my view.
Govt. schooling is free in Kerala, but extremely low standard as per state's standards. Many govt. schools does not get enough students too, so teachers put 'extra efforts' to bring in students to ensure stability of their well paid job.
Govt. school teacher salary is very good, easy and also a burden on state treasury. For basic literacy govt. is putting enough efforts, which is not equally reciprocated by local students and teachers though north Indian migrant students generally from poor families are thriving both in govt. and pvt schools.
Students in state are facing issues in education due to new age policies, low quality syllabus totally disconnected with practical or industrial realities, etc. CBSE syllabus is popular in pvt. schools, ICSE is far less popular.
Fee structure varies highly, from nil, very low to high in private schools. But not as costly as that of schools in big to medium sized metro city schools.

It is not going to be as easy decision as it looks like.
Anyone taking that decision for their children maybe putting the child's entire career on stake.
Maybe if well planned and done with dedication to child's personal growth. It might also turn out best thing to do for the child in today's world.
Where it's more about making good use of your skills for making money then just having good schooling.
Over time I have asked multiple business houses why they choose an asian country other than India for their expansion. Never have they cited strikes or labor unrest - not even in comparison to China.
If Indian govt does this and even really gives out Rs500 per violation, I just have to go to my nearest traffic stop and take pics of two wheeler riders without helmets and people who run traffic lights or run on footpaths. I can easily make a minimum of 10k per hour every day.
