Does any one know of any good method/software that will prevent my pen drive from being infected coz i keep using it daily in college and im tired of it getting infected again and again..plz suggest smthing..thks

Install ubuntu on your home pc or try the live cd version.

Do your stuff in college and when you get back home boot into ubuntu, plug in pendrive and copy the necessary files to your harddrive OR delete the files which are unkown to you .. ex some autoinf autorun or exe files which you are not familier with. They show up as files in ubuntu. After you delete them using ubuntu ... boot into windows and use the pen drive as normal.

exactly^ but he cannot disable the autorun of all the college PC's:P

but it is the safest way to disable autorun and proceed via explore:)

a simple thing that i always do not only on my pen drive but all my hdd partitions as well.....do this please, it will save a lot of hassles :)

make a file / folder named autorun.inf

then do the steps below

01) open my computer

02) tools > folder options

03) Click on the view tab

04) Uncheck the last option in the list "Use simple file sharing"

05) Ok > Close main window

06) Go back to the file / folder you created.

07) Right click > Properties > Security tab > Click Advanced

08) In the permissions tab , uncheck the option " Inherit from parent.......defined here"

09) Click on "Copy"

10) Apply > Ok

11) Back in the properties window , select each option from the "group or user name" section and click remove, one by one so that the window is now empty.

12) Apply > OK.

viola! any autorun virus can now not hit your hdd or your pen drive.

Alternatively http://www.precisesecurity.com/tools-resources/adware-tools/flash-disinfector/ can also be used.

first disable autoun of removable drives and create a folder with name "autorun.inf" in your flash drive. If you are on windows based system ,then instal usb disk security. As for the last a good and powerful OS is must.

My kaspersky fishes out most of the pen drive virus. The rest is filtered by this - usb disk security. Safe combo, I must say.
