Price updates from Lamington Road (Mumbai)

A friend got these a couple of weeks back and not from Prime as he had always done.

The staff at Prime wasn't very co-operative according to him and mostly replied NA for a lot of things he was looking for, without bothering to call up other sources as they usually do.

Quotes on most items were higher too.

2 of the following -

Thank you for those updates. Is it possible to elaborate on the issues with prime faced by your friend? At times, I too have experienced that they quote ridiculously until you remind them of your previous purchases/announce that you are a TE member.

most of the parts arent in the stock. i have got NA reply from prime n even other dealers. so i dont think its their fault.

quotes are high because prices have overall gone up.

i am not understanding your ram price. please elaborate as that price sounds very low even for a single 2gb 1333 corsair stick.

It is very unfortunate that people have to give some reference for fair quotes.

All must be treated equal imho, whether they arrive by foot or a merc. :|

Simply put- the staff is very uncooperative now- a bit too full of themselves.

Stormy sir- i know you check prices well before you purchase anything but everyone needs to keep a tab on the quotes they get from Prime now.

Past few months, quite a few people have reported to have got fairly lower rates at other shops and got what they wanted.

Not all or even many will go back to Prime saying this is lower at so-and-so place so drop your price and i will buy it- they will just shop elsewhere and be done with it.

The friend in question here has been a Prime regular for many years, known to the staff there and their behaviour wasn't good as per him.

Plus he found most of the stuff elsewhere the same day and at lower prices- so it's not a case of unavailability or prices having gone up or he complaining cause he maybe a cheapskate. :)

The RAM thingie is funny for sure- some typos maybe- let me check with him. :)

pricing is always an issue...and it is not just with prime...

it is just simple.. they will offer better pricing to a new customer..and that minimum profit is compensated when the customer becomes a regular...all businesses practice the same strategy..

i always roam around the market and enter prime at the end..just to get an idea about what is market pricing like for that day...if price is offering similar prices then i buy from prime...otherwise i do not mind buying from mccann etc for a change...
 
Went to prime and bought soundmagic pl 11 for Rs.550.
Prime was quoting 13k for a gigabyte 785 ddr2 board . Have the prices shot up?
May be a combo of 965 and board. But the combo could not be that cheap?
 
prime website has got some malware in it and shows up as paladium antivirus. i had to format one of my machine used to visit the site due to this as it just took over everything before my folks could realize. so be carefull

there was one open Sapphire HD4850 512MB...it was a used card with all dust etc visible...the card was without original box (checked the serial number on card as well as the box).

The card was available for 5.8k for the same reason with 3yr warranty.

I chose XFX over the same since i would be dodging rashi anyways via prime and the xfx card was hawt.... Graphic Cards - ATI Radeon HD 4000 - ATI Radeon? HD 4850

I think it was around 7.5k last month when i checked.

Look at his post. Its clearly metioned @Prime. Prime website also has the Gigabyte Superb 460w listed for Rs.2200/-

the price is at prime as mentioned on the top :p

this was without any bargain.
the same was available for 2350 at all other places i inquired.

checked with itwares, but its out of stock.

What are the configurations you suggest ...please put the price as well..
the server will just act as a file server for 10 pcs connected on the internal network ..
