My uncle bought a printer from US 2 months ago.

He bought a converter for it from here. {110V to 230V converter}

iT was working perfectly fine, but one day i mistakely plugged that wire direct into our socket.

& there was a spark after that the printer is not working.

When contacted Epson Customer Care, they told as it is bought from US we dont cover warranty here.

& when contacted service center they told that anything from circuit board to power unit could be faulty.

& if just the power supply is faulty then it could cost upto Rs. 1800 & if circuit board is also gone then price may increase

The Printer bought is : Epson WorkForce 520

The cost of the printer was around $100

So anyOne can pls. help what should i do ??

Does anyone have experienced this before ?

& where should i give this to repair ??<

Have you tried in another power socket?

Also if circuit is gone..then repairing is as good as buying new printer.

Most probably your power supply block went dead (if you have the external power supply block). Take the power supply unit to electronics repair shop ask him check with multimeter. If it's dead you'll have to buy a compatible one from market. Take the existing one along with you and search. If the printer is damaged you try local computer repair wala who does chip level repairing to see if repair is possible. The power adapters usually cost 400-500 Rs.

Mostly it will be adapter..B'coz, adapters are ment for this purpose only..to protect your electronic products circuit from higher voltages(Also to conver AC to DC). Your converter was stepping down 230V to 110V, which was needed for this printer.
When you put this adapter without conver it might have burnt.

yea i know the power supply unit is dead.

& it is not user-replaceable.

i checked with epson guyz they were quoting Rs.1500-1900 for just replacement of power supply unit.

& do u think that local engineers can replace this kinda power supply {American one with 110V rather then Indian one 230V} ?????
