Problem browsing With Opera....

I use Opera 8.02 to browse,and im having this strange problem:

When i browse (i hav a 256Kb/s conn.),pages with lots of text load really slow (~700b/s to 4.5kB/s)

But when loading pages with lots of pics (like deviantart) i usually get ~11-14KB/s.

I want to increase the speeds,i hav tried changing the max conections and max total conns settings in opera from the default to 16/32.But i don't see any difference.

I know there is no prob with the conn. as Bitcomet gives me around 25KB/s.The prob is not with bitcomet aswell as it happens when bitcomet is not even loaded.

try to download a exe or zip file with opera, see what speeds you get.
disable java & try, also speeds can be dependant on the server from where you trying to load the text file.

opera has tons of features that you can disable, check the help files if you are not satisified with the speed.
also check what are the plugins loading on startup, tools-advanced-plugins.

the important thing is, does the page(text) load faster than other browsers, if yes, then you are fine.

p.s - post a link to the page, i will check with opera & tell you if your browser is at fault :(
 
Sorry for the late reply (i hav a 10-10 night plan @256Kb/s).

There is no problem with FF but havn't checked IE.Also Pages with lots of images open up very fast at ~18KB/s but the problem is with pages with lots of text and a picture here or there (Ex. Slashdot,Inquirer,TE).
 
Now Im really going mad....The prob seems to hav spread to FF and IE too,While pages with lots of images load real fast,pages with text and MOST IMPORTANTLY downloads (within Opera and FF) r crawling @2kB/s with no oyher apps using the net connection.

I tried Updating the browsers and optimized the connection with TCPoptimizer but there is no use :-(

IMO the prob must be with the TCP/IP part as Mass downloader and bitcomet download at ~25KB/s
