Laptops Problem related to DELLWarranty

My friend bought a dell vostro from U.S. , but he now resides in india , his lappy is about 3-4 months old & some dead pixels have started showing up on his lcd.

He now wants to avail warranty but dell reps in india says he either needs to purchase a new warranty ( or maybe international warranty, m a little unsure on that ) , worth 8-9k , or get his lappy fixed from dell US, only.

Can any of Dell employee or any senior TE member help me here plz.

See this is the reason i dont prefer buying laptops from abroad.

Well ask your friend if hez purchased it with 3 years international warranty?

If he is having 3 years warranty then it means International warranty is covered.

If hez purchased it with 1 year warranty ie. w/o Internation Warranty then you need to do is transfer your warranty from Dell Tech Support i guess... After doing this it should prolly solve the issue.

PS: Guys correct me if am going wrong??

alright dude i will help tell ur friend to call the Dell U.S cust care and tell them tat hes moving to India and wants a ownership change which will happen in max weeks time later he could avail warranty in India ,all Dell lappies have Int. warranty,if the people here are denying tel them to check the website

...very true..but i guess not US Dell laptops with 1 year warranty have int. warranty. Only US Dell laptops with 3 years warranty have Int. Warranty. Its same here in India too.
