problem starting serious sam 2

i have a 7600gt
whenever i try to run serious sam 2 its give me a pop which says
fatal error cannot set display mode
what should i do
my screen resolution is 1024x768

could it be because if your onboard? SS 2 is quite heavy, and maybe the 6100 IGP just cannot handle it at that res. try ta bump it down to 800x600 and see

updating your drivers to 91.31 will fix it ;)
 
I think vandy looked at his siggy and answered the query as he hasnt mentioned the 7600GT in the siggy... It happenes...

Also i beleive you just got the 7600GT... So did you do a fresh install or you just uninstalled the onboard drivers and installed the GeForce drives... If latter is the case then use driver cleaner pro to uninstall the IGP as well as GeForce drivers and install GeForce drivers again. This will mostly solve the issue.
 
I played the demo on 10X7 High(maybe med- high), I think with 4x aa and HDR on, on 1gb ram and 6600GT, it runs ok, nothing spectacular but not very bad either.
 
oki am downloading the new drivers now

i will let u guys now what happens

and also my xp sp2 cd said it was a beta version of the os

does this matter?

cuz when i run dxdiag its say directx9.0c
 
ok i have downloaded the forceware 91.31 drivers but i having the same problem

doom3 and half life 2 work just fine

should i reinstall the game or should i try reinstalling xp??
 
^ hehe why reintall XP? :P just reinstall the game
check if your system if you have a opengl32.dll it will be in the system32 folder.

What crap.

Serious Sam 2 is the best coded game in recent times. Even 1280x960 2xaa gave great fps on my mid-range pc.
Only when using HDR did it slow down, else 50-100 fps throughout.

Also this was when I had only 512mb ram, still the peak charge never went above 450mb. Game loaded and unloaded as effortlessly as Notepad lol.
 
well i have reinstalled the game,updates serious sam 2,reinstalled directx9.0c,and the opengl32.dll is present in the system 32 folder

is there anything else i can do?

could it be a problem with the dvd from which i installed

it came bundled from leadtek
