This is the first time i m going to update my bios (Which dates back to 11.06.2003 ) so please help me....i

have Pheonix award bios .My motherboard is ECS 661 fx-m7(Deluxe) .So far .. i have downled the Award

Flash utilities and the latest BIOS (v1.1c) (I have checked the model no.) from ECS official website..

Now when im running the flsh utilities ..its showing three block.. ---> 1. BOOT BLOCK,2.DMI BLOCK &

3.MAIN BLOCK.....but it should show 4 blocks .... i.e. ---> 1. BOOT BLOCK,2.ESCD BLOCK,3.DMI BLOCK

& 4.MAIN BLOCK..

After that when i try to load bios update file ( which is in *.bin format) in the Flash utility, It gives the error : "

BIOS binary file check sum error" .Do you guys have any idea of whats happening wrong ???

I am yet to have any problem with my bios so far :) ...But it doesn't give the option to change BUS Clock

speed or the multiplier...so im unable to OC my proccessor (which is P4 2.8 Ghz Northwood) :( .

Make sure you have downloaded the right bios file for your m/c(double-check). If yes, try redownloading the file.

Do the read the instructions that came with the flash utility very carefully.

Are you sure about the model of your board? The 661FX-M7 is a LGA 775 board, not a Socket 478 board. There were no Northwoods made on the LGA 775 platform. The 661FX-M (deluxe) is a Socket 478 board.

Be careful which BIOS you're flashing, perhaps you are trying to flash the wrong BIOS for your board! Else a checksum error normally indicates a corrupt file.

Its not necessary that an updated BIOS will enable you to overclock either. ECS boards never were intended for overclocking.
