I am using Firefox 3 on Windows Vista Ultimate x64. Whenever there is a fluctuation in the power line and the modem goes off for some reason; Firefox freezes up all the tabs and the whole Firefox application. It comes to life after 5 mins. If I close one tab the other tabs again freeze up and its again 5 mins. and then so on. I have a Pronet Wireless router to which my machine is plugged in; and I have a TATA Indicom broadband router which auto dials and is plugged in to the same router. If anyone has had any previous experience or had any success with the problem state above please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

If problem only with firefox then try to get latest updated version and disable unnecessary toolbars/plugins .

I have the latest version and there r only 3 addons; Flashgot; Domain details and Imagehost grabber. I have a hunch that imagehost grabber is the culprit coz its a beta version not the full stable version. I'll install the full version and then check.

No..Try firefox 3.1 beta..Its better..and it is quite stable too.Just check if the problem persists with this one too..:)

Looks like Hardware problems, than a software one

fluctuation in the power line is bad for your PC, as PCs are very sensitive.

Try using a UPS, see if the problem persists

I am on a UPS. Its a 2.2 KVA UPS with 3 Truck batteries, I have a hunch that the router reboots when the power switches from line to battery but I can't make it out tho. Another thing is I have a laptop that is on all the time. It has Windows XP Home and Firefox 2 installed. That doesnt have any issues let the power go off or on. Its only a problem with FF3 and on Vista but am not too sure about it. If anyone has faced this and could shed some light then I would be very thankful.

use google chrome.... almost same as firefox... much faster n lighter.. works like a breeze.. if even that shows the same prob.. then chek ur hardware i guess...

Yeah, try to isolate the cause of problem.

Use a different browser altogether , and see if problem occurs again

It could be a script error...

I had a similar problem and i used noscript...

i also downgraded to version 2...

try that if you can...

No this doesn't happen with IE7. But I noticed something new once I was browsing on my laptop and the lights went off; even Firefox 2 hung. The thing is that I love Firefox so much that I can't give it up now. If anyone has any idea about this please let me know.

this happens with me too, i am using Dlink 502t , whenever my modem hangs up, FF freezes up too.
Though, switching modem off, brings FF back to normal.
I dunno if its the modem`s issue or FF
