problem with motorola

Hi guys after a long time im posting here.
the thing is my cousin got a motorola A835 for his sis here in chennai.
The problem is when i put any sim card into it, it says contact operator.
And beyond that i'm not able to use the phone :(.
any idea as to how to fix this problem.:huh:
 
Err.. cant u take it back to the dealer/service center?

For starters, have u tried with a different SIM card?

OOps.. u said "any" SIM card gives the same prob..
 
Well i havent tried going to any of the service center yet. will try that tomo. I thought before that i might ask someone in TE, probably someone might have the same phone. afterall TE has 10000+ members right ;)

I tried three sim cards (aircell, airtel, hutch). all of them shows the same contact operator stuff...:S
 
Awww..thats the reason.. you have to unlock that phone first since it might be tied to one of the providers there
 
locked phone wont let u use another sim, unless u unlock it.. when u start the phone most probably there will be a logo of the previous operator, or a sticker of the logo somwhere on the phone... look it up :)
