problem with pidgin

hi guys,
the problem is, when i open the pidgin it would load in system tray then it would istantly crash giving send and dont send error report options. any idea.
i tried reinstalling but in vain. i am on xp.

srry, now my computer refuses to boot into xp, error is \windows\system32\config\system is missing, u can try to recover....blah blah ....
Now i have to recover it.
 
nope it wasnt a virus, it was due to improper shutdown, and the system hive got was corrupted, to recover that, one needs system restored turned on and i hadnt. so only option was a re install, which i did.
