guys i have a problem with my powershot a95 here.
the camera was working fine for almost 11 months and now it has started giving me an strange problem.
ALL the photos that i take with the cam have a dark black spot on the lower left corner(same place everytime).i cleant the lens but still the spot is still there.have attached two images...one without zoom and one with full zoom.
now although ya'll mite notice little diff between the two i have found the spot to be more sharper on the LCD with full zoom.
is this a permanent error or can it be resolved??
also i searched arnd google for a while and came across the 'E18' error that is common with the cannons......but its said tht 'E18' error code appears on the
LCD but i aint getting ne such thing on mine.
pls help me guys.
thnx,
Asky.

FIRST recommendation get it looked at by a trained Canon technician....

Looks like dirt on the sensor - what you are seeing is the shadow of the dust particle - check this thread..... http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=91960&highlight=black+spots+a95

and these guys recommend this product - copperhill - for cleaning the sensor..
http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning

check this picture in the copperhill site.. looks like your problem...

hmmmm... try gently shaking the camera upside down and tapping it gently ... it may move the dust particle.

looks like a fungus ball on lens system the biggest enemy of the optics get it serviced and cleaned.

next time around keep a silica gel bag in your camera pouch or atleast keep your cam where humidity is not much.

thnx all u guys.
so,looks like it is dust inside.
i was scared abt it being a lens defect or something.
i ll take the camera to the canon service center next week when i return to mumbai.
thnx again eazy for all the links.
will post as soon as i get it serviced and yep....will take good care of the camera so tht this doesnt happen again.:)

guys the problem hasnt yet been solved.
my cousin was using the camera since september.its back to me now.
HOWEVER the problem still remains.
the J J Mehta guy told me nothing can be done and i shud take care of the camera from now on :(
will contact the canon service centre in D N Road tomo.
any of you know a reliable person in mumbai who will fix this thing....i still think it can be fixed.
can any of our TE Digicam experts do it?
also where can i find a digicam lens cleaning kit in mumbai?
may try it on my own if no one else does it.
waiting for your help.

It doesn't look like dirt on the lens to me. A spot on the lens will not translate to a spot on the picture. In theory, each part of the lens focusses light from the source to the corresponding part of the sensor. By corresponding part, I mean corresponding part of the source not the lens. Thus a spot on the lens does not get related to a particular spot on the sensor.
I think Eazy is right. It is dust on the sensor.
In the worst case scenario (and you don't wanna hear this :( ) it could be a defective sensor.
