Problem with Sim City 4

I have installed Sim City 4 but nothing happens when I try to run the game. The SimCity process still runs in the background but nothing else happens. The desktop stays as it is.

I am using Win XP SP2 ,Intel E8200 ,Abit IP 35-E , XFX 8600 GT.
I have upgraded the drivers for XFX and DX 9.0c but still the problem persists.
Has anyone faced this problem before and can anyone post a solution for this problem ?:huh:

No , guys ! You are missing the point .:no:
I used to play Sim City with my old machine and it would work fine .
But recently , I assembled a new PC from scratch and since then , I havent been able to play Simcity 4.
I want to know if there is any hardware / driver or any other issue for that matter.

well you tried applying the patch first? the latest patch for simcity 4?

which version you got? simcity 4 or simcity 4 deluxe?

did you install any mods?props or any other third party software for simcity?

I havent applied any patch . From where can I get the latest patch?

I didnt install any mod,props ,BAT or any other 3rd party softwares.

try gamespot for game patches, you'll have to register there though ..

you could get the patches anywhere just search on google or go to the official site and download the patch!

Thanks to all of you guys for your advice.

I visited Simcity website and downloaded the patch .I am now able to play the game after patching it up.
Moral of the story :You need to have the update patch to run sim City 4 on modern spec machines.

Hey moderators , can we start a sticky thread which contains solutions of such trivial but irritating in-game problems which many of use have passed?
