Hi frnds...

I've been facing this problem for the last 1 month.... My wireless connection drops everytime I start downloading or uploading from utorrent...:S

FYI I'm using:
1. A compaq Laptop with XP SP2
2. A beetle 450 bxi wifi router (Provided by Airtel Broadbrand)
3. A belkin Wireless Adaptor

Before I could figure out that its utorrent.. i did some troubleshooting..:
1. Uninstalled Belkin's drivers and reinstalled from the website (To ensure have latest drivers)
2. Tried to use LAN cable to check if its just wireless. The problem is only with wireless.:(
3. Got my router changed from Airtel.:ohyeah:
4. Reset the wireless settings(Channel, WPA-PSK, SSID, etc.)

Finally today figured out that connex drops only and only when I start using utorrent....:@

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks,
Sumeet

Hey ppl....

The problem aint solved...
Have done all that stuffs that u have mentioned.....

uninstalled utorrent and started using bittorrent.... same problem....:@

Somebody help... I'm not able to download stuffs....

SOS SOS SOS :huh::huh:

What about upnp ? or why dont you try opening a dedicated port for your torrent client ? is there any firewall setting in router , if yes try disabling it.

Also if any firewall in your computer, try disabling it.

i hope airtel is not actively detecting and dropping p2p connections.

have you done the customary STFW/JFGI (googling) ?

you could also enable protocol encryption and disallow non-encrypted connections and see if that helps. if it does, then airtel is messing around.

edit: other things to try:

apply the EventID 4226 patch (search for it) and increase the number of connections XPSP2 allows.

also reduce the max number of global connections (upload and download slots) in utorrent/bittorrent and also the per-torrent max connections in case the wifi/modem cannot handle so many connections ...

edit2:

also, set the max upload speed limit in utorrent to 5 kBps (50 kbps) to avoid maxing your upload speed thereby messing with your download speed :)

Thanks for all ur replies frnds....:)

I tried Azureus (Now Vuze) torrent client and also Bit comet....
they r working fine however the problem is that they eat a lot of memory compared to utorrent or bit torrent... Hence I want to use utorrent or bittorrent....

BTW is there anyother torrent client which takes less memory....??

@vishalrao: have already reduced the global connex that didnt help.... Also if Airtel would have been dropping connection it would have not worked in wired... but its working perfectly fine in wired... its just wireless....
I've also tried EventID 4226 patch

@coolraghav: Ports are forwarded properly..... checked uPnP also...

The problem seems to be with bittorrent/utorrent as Vuze and bitcomet are workin fine... but they consume lot of memory...

could it be utorrent's recent default change from tcp to udp for torrent throttling prevention? i dont know where to change that setting right now...

Try uninstalling utorrent then clean the registry. Also remove utorrent directory present in program files and application data..

having the same problem that after 7-10 mins of using utorrent the airtel connection drops, I have to reboot the modem & then it works again for a while before going down, I nailed the problem to using utorrent.

updated the utorrent to beta 2.1 that also showed the same problem then finally found the solution here http://broadbandforum.in/airtel-broadband/51615-airtel-broadband-airtel-2mbps-problems/

Solution disable the DHT completely that solved the problem for me.
