I installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Edition yesterday and since then have installed all the given updates via Windows Update and the softwares I needed.

I installed Star Wars - The Force Unleashed and started it up today. I got these 2 dialog boxes...

I went to the Microsoft Download Center and downloaded the DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime (from here) but when I tried to install, I got this message -

So I went to the Logs folder in Windows and here are the 2 log files:

DirectX.log

DXError.log

Can anyone please help me with what's going on here? How do I correctly install DirectX and get the game to start?

Remember seeing a similar exception long time back. Has got to do with driver support for the 64bit W7. Did you confirm you have the right drivers for your 64 bit? Also, did you try running this in compatibility mode?

Hey, thanks for the help. But I solved this on my own. I downloaded the June 2010 Redistributable Package and extracted all the files and then installed the DirectX. It worked fine. Problem solved.

But still, thanks!
