Linux Problems with Ubuntu

Well the problem goes like this :

I installed Ubuntu Linux AMD64 version (on my dual processor Opteron based Server having nF4 professional mobo, 2GB DDR400 (ECC with Reg.) RAM and 4*200GB SATAII Hdds in Raid 1 & I have assembled it :hap2: ).
Installation went smoothly with no errors.

I don't remember it the installation asked for roo password (or may be it asked but what I entered I don't remember)
Now can anybody tell me what would be the default password of root (If the installation doesn't asks) or How to retrive the root password on Ubuntu (If the installation had asked) ??

Plz I need help. I can't keep my server offline for long time:huh:

Hi there.
I am not quite sure this works out but let me give my suggestions.
Ubuntu does not have a root user by default. But all root related stuff can be done by using the sudo command. There must be one user with a password that you use to login, and from there you can open a terminal and sudo everything, and if so needed you can even change users settings like root password.

PS: This is something I use for my 32 bit PC with a normal desktop install and if things are different for 64 bit editions and server installs, then I have no idea.

Praveen.
