Processing power of human brain ?

Figuring stuff out

hmmm...... this one's not easy , i am sure the numbers could be mind boggling, but what do u guys think would be the total processing power of the HUMAN BRAIN, if measured in GHZ ;) .I mean what kinda processor would be required to simulate a human brain, if they develop the AI somehow :eek:hyeah:
comeon, what r u waiting for, make a WILD guess :eek:hyeah: :bleh:

Human brain is like 1680Ghz i read online in an articcle which includes eye image processing, brain FSB, hearing, processing information :p

And it'll be massively parallel :eek:hyeah: Lets see....it has five 5 input devices attached to it ( eyes, ears, tongue, nose, skin ). All these are dual purpose...i.e. Eyes are ears are in stereo, skin and tongue measure temperature as well as pressure/taste.
Then theres memory, emotion engine, logic engine, etc etc......

Almost forgot about the nervous system co-processor, which handles reflex actions. :p

There is no way to say really. The brain is a massively parallel computer (Superdromes don't stand a chance here), so GHZ is a bad comparison.

tats wat 1680GHZ!!! one thousand six hundred and eighty only. that is like having 840 pentium computers attached together each having 2Ghz speed! so isnt that fast? ill give u link if i come across again :)

Why fear when google is here :eek:hyeah: ( the search engine, not the TE member :p)

monalac, you got your figure from here - http://library.thinkquest.org/C001501/the_saga/compare.htm

This place has this to say
A human brain's probable processing power is around 100 teraflops, roughly 100 trillion calculations per second, according to Hans Morvec, principal research scientist at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. This is based on factoring the capability of the brain's 100 billion neurons, each with over 1,000 connections to other neurons, with each connection capable of performing about 200 calculations per second.

Also, the structure in which the neurons are connected to each other would make a difference. When you move to massively parallel processing, hypercubes come in.

I dont know but i have some special capabilities .. i can think of two instances at the same time sometimes 3 but 4 is tuff cant really do it.
i tried writing with both hands diff things in same time i cant write in left hand else i can think of two things to write.
whats my ghz?
lol

lol...I guess u gotta a dual-core :eek:hyeah:

I think my brain performs 2 teraflops/sec.

Thats why im such an idiot :D.

since my Peanut sized brain is bigger than a regular size brain ...(Dont ask :p, long joke :p)
