processor comparison wrt processing and graphics, amd E350 vs B940 and B950 ?

Hello guys,

am going to buy a notebook ~20-27k within the month.
Portability and battery life are big considerations for me but after having given much thought have ruled out netbooks with 10-11 inch screen.
I will be using for net surfing, watching movies and basic usage, occasionally old games, nfs etc. So i guess i dont need any blazing performance but the proc should not lag with ~10 tabs in two browsers (firefox and opera) and background winamp. would be dual booting XP and Ubuntu (maybe windows 7 also).

After seeing various options i think a 13-14 inch screen would be good for me.

The processors in my range are AMD E350 and INTEL B940 / B950

As far as i have researched the amd has a little weaker proc than intel but a little better graphics than intel.
Can someone give how approx %age better cpu and % weaker gpu the two have comparedto each other (i guess the b940/950 only differ a bit in clock speed and are otherwise same)

So i would like opinions on whether e350 or b940/950 would be better for me (there should be no lag in websurfing etc!)

If both would be adequate for me the next criterion would be lower power consumption.
I think the e350 is leaner. again can someone give how much % more power the intel takes?

The cpu on B940 is probably twice as fast as the E350. Graphics wise, Intels HD video gets the job done when it comes to video playback, and it should play old games at low resolutions.

The E350 laptops available don't have the best battery life, and they aren't more portable than ones with an Intel B940, and perform much worse. The E350 is a good netbook processor, and should compete with the Atom, but it's priced on par with Intel's B940/P6600. For 27k you could get an i3, or amd quad core based laptop.

You can get an Acer TravelMate Timeline 8372, a 13 inch, core i3, with 4GB RAM, and an 8 cell battery for Rs.26000, or an Asus X53TA-SX096D, with an A6-3400M Quad core@1.4G, AMD HD 6650 1G DDR3 VRAM and

2G DDR3 1333 for about Rs.28000.

The acer will be more portable, but the asus will give you a better balance of CPU and GPU, but it's battery life won't be great.

for your use I would recommend msi 430.the CPU is slightly better than atom.gpu is more than enough for your needs. see some YouTube videos for graphics performance. what I like about this is that it comes with a 40 Watt power supply. Intel's with 65 Watt.noticeable power savings with 24 hour operation if u use it that way.with new browsers all getting hardware acceleration it will be potent enough for ur needs.the above model costs 20k and also comes with windows 7 .2yr warranty too.

Thanks for the info, but your suggestions are not what im looking for. I think i will go with a B940 14".

Thanks drsingh, i think i will go with a B940 based one. more on the lines of the MSI CR460. (but the picture of this particular model looks bad!)
