CPU/Mobo Processor Woes

Dammit.

Finally I get my processor upgraded and I feel like I'm not doing the right thing.

So I have had it upgraded, and I've been given a Intel 945GCCR motherboard, and a Intel Pentium D 925 3.0GhZ processor with 2GB DDR2 RAM.

How much should this cost? With a cabinet and a Sony DVD Writer?

I'm not sure about this, I wanted to get a Core 2 Duo but the processor is quite a bit more expensive. The thing is, that I can most probably afford a Core 2 Duo 1.8 GhZ but I've been told its performance is more or less the same as the Pentium D 925. Plus, the D925 has more L2 Cache than the C2D 1.8.

Someone tell me what the hell I should do.

Dunno about the price m8, but this is one of the biggest lies you have been told...

Better get a AMD X2 3600+ and mobo setup for 6k something if you are short on budget
 
the Pentium D is one of the crappiest dual core cpu's out there... u were better off with tht 1.8Ghz C2D.

but since it seems like u have already bought it, well u cant do much about it.

you cud have asked for suggestions here b4 thinking of tht Pentium D
