Save yourself from the prying eyes.

These days every 3rd person is complaining about his/her Internet account or Windows account has been hacked and is damn sure about not reveling his private info to anyone. May be they are right but they don't know that their own acts or their system/PC is the culprit to welcome such incidents.
Not only in India but all over the world users registered esp. with gmail, fb and hotmail and may be many more have lost their accounts to somebody else's hands & passes the blame to others or is unknown for the act to blame anyone.
No matter what and how you complaint to these service providers, they have their policies framed in which they have clearly mentioned they wont track anything just for you--who, how, when and why xyz attacked your dear account. They too will simply blame us.
So let's protect ourselves & overcome & fight this nuisance.

Best practices --a must for every computer user :hap2:
  1. Dont save your passwords in browsers--clear the cache & cookies on every log-off. Browsers do have this facility.
  2. Dont use any cracks/ keygen for any software--they might act as backdoors & pose a threat to send your pvt. info to outsiders a.k.a hackers.
  3. Check for unknown background process & startup entries.
  4. Use extreme caution when opening attachments in emails and downloading programs off of the Internet.
  5. Dont treat any sudden abnormality in OS operation lightly. Check & diagnose immediately.
  6. To prevent the above, use an always-on, automated, all-in-one PC scan service with anti-spyware, privacy protection, performance tune-ups, and system cleaning capabilities.
  7. Also, use security defense tools--for loopholes, malware, spamware etc. use advanced malware & spyware removal utility that detects, removes the deepest infections, and protects your PC from various potential spyware, adware, trojans, keyloggers, bots, worms, and hijackers.
  8. Use good anti-virus & keep it updated daily--ESET, Bit defender, avast etc.
  9. Check for unknown opened ports & unknown network activity--use 3rd party firewalls--ZoneAlarm or Comodo.
  10. Keep your OS always updated to prevent any vulnerabilities and to fix security holes.
  11. NO MATTER WHAT-- dont ever share your log in info's incl. passwords with your gf, bf, family or your business partners etc. or anyone.
It is better to forget it ourselves rather than telling it somebody to remember.
  12. Dont save passwords in cyber cafe and check if you can whether the cyber or that PC has any key-logger installed---70% attackers benefit from cyber cafes.
  13. When using/doing internet banking, make use of the banks website incorporated keyboard for inputting /keying your logins details and pin codes etc. which is the best way to be protected against key-loggers. --As suggested by RadioHeAd
If follow the above steps seriously, you can be definitely the safest users to worry less and do more and forever.;)
Thus you leave your worries with no further injuries.:D

Final words...
It is better to be safe now rather than sorry later.

We wish you happy and safe surfing.

  1. I don't agree not this point.Without Password remembering feature, Most people will end up using same password everywhere which is a security nightmare.

Best you can do is, use a Master password to protect your browser passwords

i think most of us know these facts except the n00bs:)

Not everyone is good with computers mate. many of us out here know these facts but for the ones who dont its kind of a boon. If ur aware of these facts then just let it pass by, u don have to look. In fact u never know but there might be a few pointers which have been new to u as well. Its not necessary to apply all of it but we can use what best works for us.
ronit good job. its never too late for us to pass on such info.

Also, just to add one more point,

-for people who use ineternet banking a lot, make use of the browser/bank website incorporated keyboard for inputting ur details. best way to work against keyloggers.

You can use something like KeePass Password Safe , I assume it has better encryption that the browsers .

Any modern browsers should encrypt passwords before storing them.Atleast Google Chrome uses CryptProtectData Function to encrypt passwords and later safety stores them in Sqlite database.

ALso, the encryption is pretty solid. only a user with the same logon credential as the user who encrypted the data can decrypt the data. In addition, the encryption and decryption usually must be done on the same computer.

So there is no need to such third party tools unless you work on multiple machines. inbuilt password manager are enough
