PS Move is a 'great product,' says Microsoft

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has sprinkled praise over Sony’s PlayStation Move controller as the launch of Kinect looms ever closer, labelling the motion-sensing device a ‘great product’

Speaking during a chinwag with Eurogamer, Greenberg acknowledged that Sony’s wand-shaped peripheral has attracted ‘favourable reviews’ from critics, though was quick to highlight the fundamental differences in the application of Move and Microsoft’s forthcoming device.

“Here's what I think: Move is just a different approach to the market," he said. "We're thinking about Kinect as a key component to the platform, and what they've done with Move...

"First off, it's a great product and the reviews seem to be pretty favourable. But they've targeted it purely to existing owners. They've said you can decide whether you want to play existing titles on the platform, like SOCOM, with the controller or with Move.â€

Microsoft’s all about a difference approach, continued Greenberg, crafting a unique experience from the ground up: "Our approach has been different. We're not going to take Halo, a game you love playing with the controller, and offer you the option to play it with a different interface which may or may not have been designed for that game. We want to build completely unique experiences from the ground up which are designed for Kinect. It's just a different approach."

"[For] gamers who have a PS3 and like playing those games, [Move] offers a different way to play - and some people will get pleasure out of that, absolutely."

So can't a guy from one brand be honest, acknowledge and call another product from another brand as great product?

Besides, if you read it the comments he didn't start to diss Microsoft either, just said in his own sweet words "PS move is a great product and reviews seem to be favourable, but microsoft never believed in putting a motion-sensing in their best-selling titles like Halo and prefer to keep it that way!".

Agreed. Of course it's quite uncharacteristic of him to do so, but it is appreciated.
His points about the target audience are spot on. Kinect's aim is to add another group to their demographics, while Move is mostly about polishing the experience even further.
