WTF is this god damn error ..
It says , obtaining IP address succeeded ,but status of Internet connect is failed
Any idea , how to resolve this

Oh , BTW , am using a wired connection:(

On browsing through some forums , came to know that Wireless router fixes this issue (TRUE ???:S ), if thats the case, can anyone suggest a router in BUDGET (wired/wireless) , so that i can connect my PS3 , and two PC's

~ Thank you ~ :)

Does your internet require authentication?
How have you connected the PS3 to your internet ?

You could go for Linksys WRT54G incase you require to but PS3 should work with without router as well.

Happens to me all the time. Using a wifi router won't solve your problem. I am using Linksys WRT54G router to connect to the net. I get the same error 1 in 3 times, I just have to try it again and again until it is resolved.

IP address success means your router has been able to assign an IP to your Ps3 via Dhcp, but it is not able to connect to the internet. Sometimes it happens to me when my link light goes off my beetel modem, but other times I just retry and it connects.

But if you have decided to go for a wifi router in any case, go for Netgear, as someone suggested that they are better compatible with Ps3. Although I can't validate that statement, but yes I am facing a little problem to make my Linksys work with the Ps3.

Ps3 problem aside, WRT54G rocks, my iphone/netbooks 2f above the router work flawlessly. While Ps3 not more than 10 meters apart from it has connection problems and manages a connection in 3-4 tries.

yes, i do have to enter a password every time i login to internet ... i removed the cable from the CPU and put it to the PS3 port , and before doing it i opened cmd prompt and got all numbers through ipconfig/all

after the cable is connected to PS3 port , i manually input all the numbers in
PS3 internet settings

Do you authenticate using your browser or you have some client installed on your machine ?

EXACTLY , first time i switch on my computer

I had to open any browser and login through this URL "http://10.10.24.1/login"
and then i would be able to open any website

Try wireless and wait for 5 mins b4 connecting it to PS3. Also do port forwarding if possible on ur router. PortForward

Also even when it connects, you have to login thru PS3 Internet Browser and then u can surf / connect to PSN else u can't connect.

So , once i manage to connect to internet in PS3 (I wish) , i had to create a PSN id and then use PS3 internet browser .. Correct ?
