PS3 extended warranty enquiry,Croma chennai!!!

Hi

Am plannig to get a ps3 next week..

Either via our dealer in TE or from Croma chennai..

I heard that Croma providing 2 year extended warranty for ps3..

Couple of my freinds in Delhi told me about this...

Anyone know the same offer is avail in chennai croma or not ?

If so how much extra i got to pay for extending warranty?

Chroma does offer extended warranty. I was offered one at Mumbai. However bajaj finance had conned me in to the warranty before Croma offered it to me.
 
Moa thinkz ya can enquire with Kroma yerself and hav yer quereez and doubtz cleared. Dont think Sony haz ny xzistin offerz like zat! Not at leazt wen I bot 'em.

Anyways, Even I'm confused about console and warranty

Which one to buy PS3 Slim or PS3 80GB :-/

On Ebay, PS3 Slim is listed at 20.5k but no permanent note how will they provide warranty.

Please, help me out.

Whichever is a wiser option.
 
I thought they had stopped this extended warranty offer, didn't they?

A friend of mine told me that they were no longer offering extended warranty in Bombay Croma centres. I could be wrong though. :S
 
2YR additional warranty is a standard offering Croma has for most electronic items especially for Computers and Gaming consoles.

I'm not sure if the extended warranty price changes depending on the cost of the item. I recenlty purchased a computer from them for 65k and paid an additional 2600 for 2YR extended warranty. This is in addition to the stock 1 YR warranty that the manufacturer provides.

I asked them who would be honoring this extended warranty (Croma or the manufacturer) and I was told that Croma would refer the case to the manufacturer who would be honoring the warranty.

In short, based on what I was told, the extended warranty is as good as the maufacturers warranty.
 
They still have the 2 year extended warranty, atleast here in Mumbai. infact on certain products if you don't claim warranty during the extended warranty period you are refunded the whole amount :)
 
You can avail extended warranty for most items in Croma.

The principle is fundamentally similar to insurance.

100 people insure. 2 claim insurance. You make money off the remaining amount.

Thats true, The extended warranty is generally offered by the retailer and not the manufacturer. If something goes wrong with your product, the retailer will take sufficient pains to get it repaired to your satisfaction. If the product cannot be repaired, there "might" be a replacement but you would most likely have to fight for it. Read the warranty conditions carefully. IMO, extended warranties are a fleece tactic and one should not pay extra for it unless and until it is being offered by the manufacturer itself (like with cars), in which case, it would be available everywhere and not with just one retail chain.
