Asked to explain why Sony decided to skip out on a retail release for Gran Turismo HD, and instead focus on GT5, Yamauchi admitted that following the Tokyo Game Show, gamers expressed their desire for the full game. He made specific mention of overseas gamers, which means that if you complained on a message board, your voice might have been heard.

...

On the topic of the GTHD Concept demo itself, Yamauchi revealed that the Christmas Eve download will include Polyphony's next generation driving simulation engine. According to the producer, this engine fixes such areas as drift control and drift angle. As previously announced, the demo won't have online races, but it will offer network rankings separated according to the various cars. Replays from the top ranked players will be available for download, so you can see how the best of the best race.

More downloadable content will become available before GT5's full release. Yamauchi promised a photo mode of some form to become available for download. He wouldn't give a specific time frame.

Yamauchi also promised an official announcement for Gran Turismo 5 before the next Tokyo Motor Show, scheduled for October 27, 2007. We plan on getting close and personal with the GTHD Concept demo until then.

^^ its gameplay video. its the replay video prolly which looks little better than the actual game. but none the less. gt is nothing bout gfx & its all about the gameplay of the game. gt1 & g2 on ps1 & gt3 on ps2 still own every game out there. can practically play any gt series game every day without getting bored.

Once again, is this a gameplay video? Or pre-rendered?
There's a photo mode which is where the pics were taken, the actual gameplay doesn't look anywhere as good as this. It's just GT4 with upscaled/hd textures.

Don't think this is the photo mode, the Youtube video shows those same screen captures in motion.

Let us make this point clear then - these are not pics of people playing while they are actually playing? That changes the real-time characteristics. So we can't really expect this level of graphics while playing the game.

So much for HD.

Wateva... I have been a FAN and this looks nice :) As for next Big thing, it sure will kick real hard, I guess.

Well it's not the gameplay video as well. I am pretty sure it's a replay mode where a lot of post processing has been applied.

@params: That free demo was supposed to be a full fledged game for which sony would have charged you 60$.

Dude, that is absolutely awful.

NFSUG2 and CMR2005 looked better on my PC with a radeon 9600pro.

Maybe the video is a bad capture (or too compressed).....

I highly doubt a downloadable game will offer anything that good. I've been folowing this game since E3(back when it was just GT4 in HD) and it has definitely improved since then, but not considerably enough.

Holy shit Chaos! That video is absolutely ugly. I don't think I've ever seen a tunnel look so bland, ever!!!

The video quality would obviously be bad as the video is from youtube.com

I don't need good quality videos to see how poorly the art design was in that tunnel. The rest of the game looks pretty good with the car models standing out the most. Too bad we'll never ever see crash damage in the GT series.

And there's a reason they made it free : Half-assed development. Intentions are irrelevant, fact reamains the demo may be only halfway through (or less, i'm sure) to the real thing.

They just didn't put much work into it, and decided to release whatever they had until then to make it free small demo to generate hype for GT5.
