PS3 help needed badly

Hey guys:) I bought a HDMI to DVI cable for my PS3 to make it run on my Viewsonic 2025WM
It doesn't work on mine, nor does it work on the samsung and dell lcd monitors that i have tried. The cable is good but am i missing some thing here? BTW, my LCD is not HDCP compliant and the other LCDs that i have tried are HDCP.

If there is a solution to this then let me hear it. I will be greatly thankful to everybody for their suggestions. I have not tried on any HDTV LCD coz its pointless for me as i plan to keep my LCD and buy a full HD HDTV later this year. So till then i want to at least experience 720p on my LCD. I was very depressed by this and i still am :( Please tell me what to do. :huh:
 
Here's a something you could try;

Connect the PS3 to a regular TV with composite and lower the resolution to of the PS3 to the lowest.Then try a HDCP capable monitor.The thing is the PS3 dose'nt automatically scale down AFAIK.So if the PS3 is set to 1080p and your monitor supports max 720p you simply wont get any display,and that's probably whats happening.

Also I dont think you'l be able to use HDMI-DVI on your Viewsonic but you could check it on a Dell.

I will sure try it out. But there is a method to reset the PS3 settings to default by keeping the power button pressed for a few seconds while you turn it on. I will do what u said and get back to you. Thanks
 
the ps3 selects the resolution automatically! (i think that came with one of the updates,coz in mines its auto firmware 1.82) and the monitor has to be hdcp compliant.
 
^^ does it mean you can't plug a ps3 with vx2025wm (non hdcp compliant)? (using a hdmi to dvi cable)....that sucks!
 
But i read somewhere, that if HDMI over HDCP isn't supported, then ps3 will automatically switch to 480p res....

I just wanted to know if i buy a ps3, and connect it to my vx2025wm, will i be able to play games at atleast 720p res (which my monitor supports)?

no i dont think the ps3 will work on vx2025. mod_to odd has already tried it & so has harshal. both of them have vx2025 & it dint work.

but the strange thing is that we tried the ps3 on a dell 22" which is hdcp capable & it dint work on that too.

anyways i am going to try it out again today if it works on the vx2025.
