Hi guys,
I've recently bought a 12 GB PS3 super slim (as that was the only variant available in the store) and I intend to give it to my Mom . I am looking for games with easy controls that could be played comfortably without prior gaming experience. So naturally, I am inclined towards platform/arcade games along the lines of Mario or Sonic, but the only problem is that I've played these games only as a kid and I have no idea what the current trending platform games are.
I'd appreciate if anyone here could suggest appropriate titles and I might add that I am not restricting my choice to just platform/arcade games.
The requirements for the games I feel would suit her are:
1. Should be fun and relaxing
2. Fairly linear gameplay
3. Progressive gameplay as opposed to games like Tetris (I believe progressive gameplay brings immersion and hence, make the game addicting)
4. No sophisticated controls
5. High rated
I could make exceptions to these requirements if needed.
I apologize for making a big deal out of buying a game but PS3 games are fairly expensive and If she doesn't like it, then the purchase would go in vain because I wouldn't play it either as the games I personally like are polar opposites to what I'd buy for her. Also, I figure some of you guys might have elderly family members play on consoles so you might have a good idea what games they usually like.
Additional notes:
1. My PS3 is bundled with the Move module
2. I've checked out Sonic Generations but I am not really sure if she can handle the 3D gameplay.
3. I remember now that she can handle racing games quite well so games along the lines of Road Rash/ NFS Most Wanted are okay too if they have a tiny bit of a story line and a form of progress (unlocking cars or moving up the blacklist as an example). That being said, I am not really keen to buy from the NFS series as I feel the gameplay got harder lately.
Thanking you in advance!
