PS3 Owners from Delhi/NCR << Need your help >>

Point is ..... never every buy stuff from Crappy places like Palika Bazar. They, as it is dont stand any warranty anywhere . You cant Blame Sony India for not providing you with a warranty, as it is in most probability a product made by Sony Japan, which was smuggled and sold for less in Palika.

Also remember if any shopkeeper tells you that he will provide you a valid bill & there is going to be a warranty on the PS3 sold by him, dont fall for that ..... its most probably going to be dismissed by Sony India. It is advisable to pay a couple of grand more & purchase your PS3 & its accessories from reputed showrooms like Sony World, Croma etc.

Hmmm. Weird.
I got a 6 month warranty with my controller.

Try using the controller with some other PS3. It *might* be that japanese PS3's work only with japanese controllers ?

lol there's nothing like japanese controllers only work with japanese PS3's

they all are made by FOXCON in china

and you couldn't have gotten a 6 months warranty.you must have though you got but SONY would never repair it as they don't provide it

That's incorrect. The sync lights should come up even without the presence of a console. All of those lights would keep blinking till the time they find an active PS3. If it doesn't, then those light would turn off automatically. In this case, he isn't even getting those lights after holding down the 'Home' button. This clearly indicates that it's not powering up at all.

Yup it aint powering up. And to the person above , i meant the idiots at Sony World. They didnt have spare controllers. Try calling up customer support , they say that Sony India does not deal in merchandise.

Above that, something seems to be rattling inside the controller o_O I'm fairly confident that i have been handed a faulty controller. Going over to pallika tomorrow :/

Good luck! Be a bit persistent, if possible. If there are other customers in the store, the store keeper would not want any unsatisfied customer complaining in front of them.

Sony showroom is stupid place in itself.

When i recently went there to get accessories for the ps2, the person flatly refused to honor any warranty on either the remote or the card.

Few months back when my Sony music system started malfunctioning, i took it to Sony repair in Noida.

Warranty was about to expire in 3-4 day's time.

They called me after 3 days to pick it up. I went to Sony world first to check a perfectly working system (to refresh my memory abt all the functions) and then to pick up mine.

Sure enough the problem wasnt resolved and still the person at the desk tried to convince me that it is rectified and this is how it should work.

I patiently heard him out so that he can blabber to his content then i took him apart for trying to take a S/w Engg for a ride trying to tell how a s/w should work.

Then literally barked at him to call his tech head. He came out promised to fix the thing.

As soon as i came out i called up Sony and lodged a complaint with details.

The showroom/service center ppl will try to pull off every stunt so as to return the product and not honor the warranty, just dont accept their blabber.

3 Days later tech head apologised and handed over the system in fully working condition.

And yes it did malfunctioned again in few month's time, but by then i had my MX 5021.

No Sony product since then for a premium. Will get PS3 from US, or will ask Gannu to sell his at Gun Point but no Sony premium i ll pay.

@Dhruv: Can you try resetting the controller and see if it works? I just found this out on YouTube.

This guy seems to have the same problem as you and watch the video at around 14 seconds in, it's shows how you can reset the controller. Worth a shot I guess. Just hold the reset button for sometime and then try.

Tried resetting ... no luck. Opened and checked , all wires seem are connected. Only think i can think of is that the battery is totally dead... I DID notice something queer though. AFAIK the DS3 battery is a 615 mAh battery while the one which was installed in the controller was 550 mAh o_O

It's a 610mAH 3.7V battery. Although market replacements floating around have the 100mAH versions as well.

Is this a fake controller? :\

I am having doubts about the authenticity of the controller. Judgement day tomorrow for the shop owner !!! This thing rattles , doesnt work , has smaller battery << i wont tell him that i opened it ofcourse >> ... now i'm pretty sure its a fake.

Well, this is a bit offtopic, just thought I'd let you guys know,

My PS2 is a Modded one, it has a minor Reset Button problem so I called up the Sony Repair Center to find out the repair charges,

They say that only products bought in India and which is in Warranty will be replaced, yes that's right replaced, I ask them what about products which are outta warranty and they say that Sony India does not repair and they repeatedly say that it will be replaced if it has Warranty(this apples to Playstations), the CC also explicitly states that they do not repair Playstations and only replace them if it has Warranty,

And the website strangely puts up Service Fees when Sony India does not have the capacity yo repair Playstations:-

Service Charges : Service Charges : Sony India

So if you're lucky your product will die within the warranty period and get replaced else you'll have to be stuck with a dead product and give it to shops in Grey Markets to repair  ,

This is the position of Sony customers in India(at least for Sony Computer Entertainment products), :(

Does Microsoft repair faulty XBOX 360s?

So basically if it is out of warranty... Sony India is not going to do anything about it even if you are willing to pay and that sucks :/

On another note , i went to the guy yesterday. He agrees that it is probably a fake controller and says that it has happened with him twice. But he insists that he cant do anything since it is in a sealed pack and he has no way of knowing. He has taken the controller and will try to get it fixed. If he cant he gives me a new one at discount.

TBH , at this point , i am not sure whether i should pester him to give me a free controller coz he ripped me off or should i sympathize with him coz he got ripped off by the dealer as well o.o

Microsoft does not have a repair policy, they too replace the console. As far as I know, that goes for most of their faulty products.
they don't replace it just give you a refurbished one

they are already in a $2billion hole for RROD,they wouldn't want to lose more

they do repair them and if some big repair has to be made then they give you a refurbished one

even the ones out of warranty

the CC also explicitly states that they do not repair Playstations and only replace them if it has Warranty,

most of the CC's don't know shit about the services, knuckleheads
