PS3 Price cut has come to India

^That should cost the same on paper since 300USD translates to 20k! o_O

hey but it's a good deal if they dont bundle the games with it. Slash at least 2.5k from the pricing!
 
If I am not mistaken the PS3 slim is priced at EUR 300. Hence differential pricing. Should be true for India as well.

And 300 USD translates to INR 20,000 how?

Well, you don't ask KMD on why his dollar markup doesn't match up, do you?

PS3 has an import duty attached to it. Add retailer margin and sony's profit to it, it will be always be expensive. Every console released here somehow has been more cheaper elsewhere.
 
well the $300 is the MSRP in the US, i believe that includes the dealer margin,so in india they should only add the import duty.so i guess with the games the price is about right.but without the games i hope it cost atleast 1.7k to 2k less.

True. But it also has to do with how many consoles Sony expects to sell in India. More consoles means overhead costs spread over a larger base and hence a lower per unit price. US being a way more developed market than India would therefore have a lower price (assuming all other things constant)
 
tech 2 is crap they said nvida 3d vision in in india and even gave price

that monitor costs 20k longback (no one till now was able to find that india)

as for ps3 the price is going down in India also but i think they will tack some time

ps3 80gb and ps3 slim120Gb are 299$

only diffrence is u can load linux on old one

Sony needs to fill its coffers quickly considering their quaterly losses for some time. Do you think they'll drop the price any lower than this in India? If they do we are really lucky.

well i hope they drop the prices.for many years in india sonys brand name alone used to fetch it sales,very rarely we used to see ads.
but times have changed unless they price competitively,there products ain't gone a sell. even their tv business is under loss worldwide,but in india the prices are still quite high and i bet they are making profits only in india,but their tvs sales in india also have taken a hit,due to the high price.
 
Well their arrogance in pricing was what made me switch to RRODBox 360 after spending 10 years with PS1 & PS2. Hopefully they'll realize their Japanese snootiness is not going to sell their products all the time. Bravia seriously deserves a price drop considering Samsung has equally good products at a much lower price.

if that was listed in ebay with a 10% or even 5% coupon,it will be further cheaper to a max of Rs1000.

Yes it be... Aesthetics is VERY important. atleast for me. so PS3 fat wins hands down...

I just got it 1 month ago. but didnt expect such a price drop. for that i am sad... :(
