ps3 queries

Dear friends,
I have a few questions regarding the ps3..

1. i dont own an lcd or plasma tv..a normal 29 inch onida oxygen thunder.i heard that the ps3 would look good only on lcd's or stuff like dat and it would look crappy on my tv..

2.about psn..is it free? how do we access it? do we need an internet connection or smthg?sorry for being noobish...i no nothin abt the ps3

1.) you can use the ps3 on regular tv. but it will look ok. still better than other consoles like ps2 etc. but for best results you should use it on a lcd tv that is hd compatible. will look much better & sharper.

2.) yes psn is free. you can create a account on ps3 by going online through it & registering. yes you will need an internet connection.

^^ And a fast internet connection like 512 Kbps to work. Also playing online uses a lot of data, so try and get an unlimited connection.

Instead of posting a new thread, I thought of posting a few more queries in this thread itself
i might get a ps3..but i cant afford hdtv's..I have a samsung 19 inch SyncMaster920NW and i absolutely love it(widescreenhyeah: )..

now can i connect the ps3 to the lcd monitor? if so how do i do it? and will be image be stretched?:S

^Yes you can.. assuming you have a DVI connector on the monitor, get an HDMI-DVI connector, and you're all set for the video.

You will also need HDCP support in your Monitor to be able to connect the PS3 using HMDI-DVI cable. Do check on that as most 19" Monitors do not support HDCP. The other alternative is to use a Component cable and a Component to VGA Transcoder like the one from XCM to get VGA ouput to the Monitor.
