Was thinking about getting the PS3. So got a few queries :-

1) Which model should i go for and what will be the total cost?? -- the 40 gb one or should i wait for sony to release the 80 gb model? I don't care about support for ps2 games.
2) Are the games region locked?? Which games should i purchase ----NTSC J NTSC UA or PAL??
3) I got one broadband connection. How do i share that connection between my computer and ps3??
4) How do you stream movies to a ps3 from a computer?? I know there are softwares like TVersity but how do you connect the two(ps3 and computer)??
5) I have altec lans ATP3 speakers. So is there any way i can connect them to a ps3 ? if not suggest some good headsets(under 5k price)
6)Can ps3 upscale dvds and standard def. movies\vidz ? How good is the upscaler?
7) Do they come with a hdmi cable or do you have to buy them seperately? If so which one and at what cost?
8)Where can i get ps3 games (live in trivandrum) ? Also pls. suggest some reliable websites from where i can order ps3 games. How long do they take to ship products to india?
9) What's the warranty for ps3 like ?
10) Is online game play completely free?

1. 40GB if you dont care for PS2 games. Costs around 25000 bux.
2. Games are not region locked. Mostly it does not matter which version you get. We have PAL in India, if your TV is new enough then it will play NTSC as well. Mind you the movies are region locked. If you get a NTSC one from US the blu ray discs must be from that region.
3. Use a WiFi router or a cable. Upto you.
4. TVersity works perfectly, I use it myself. Install it on your computer and start the server. Scan for servers from your PS3 and you will find the TVersity media server. I use Wifi for connecting my PC and PS3.
5. No idea.
6. If you mean the aspect ratio then yes (I may be wrong though)
7. The PS3 does not come with a HDMI cable. You have to buy one yourself.
8. You can try various retail stores like Reliance Digital, Chroma, Planet M etc for games. Other than that you can order through Playasia.com. I have only ordered two games from then via noramal post. One took three weeks the other I have not received after two months :@. If you are willing to shell 1000 extra bux you can get then via FedEx or DHL.
9. 1 year.
10. Yes.

as to point 6, upscaling refers to upping the resolution of sd dvds from their native 720*480 to fit the resolution of an hdtv, typically 1366*768 and above. Yes, the ps3 upscales, and does so very well.

For No.5, i use a converter like this one :

i think the additional warranty beyond 1 yr is offered by Croma and not Sony, though i am not sure. you can confirm it with the Croma staff.

I have the extended warranty myself. In the first year you have to take it to Sony(my PS SOD'd once) and after that for the next 2 years directly to Croma.
