PSP 3001 Screen Flicker

One of my friend's PSP 3001 has CFW GEND-M33 installed but the screen flickers and moving around the menu is very slow but when is started (takes 2 mins) it runs well.

Could it be a battery issue or Firmware ?

This, and the PSP 3xxx have known to have inferior screens.

Firmware is 5.03 , no plugins installed the big problem is the slowdown while browsing XMb menu or loading the game, the screen does not flickers while watching movies or gaming.

Dude, have you even tried the screen? Clarity, brightness and viewing angles are much better. There is an interlacing problem but that rarely occurs, unless you deliberately shake the PSP about and look at the screen OR when playing games with quick action + dark/ light colours together.

Press SELECT and see what the CPU XMB Speed is, see that it is on Default.

I am pretty sure the problem is what RD274 has mentioned, I have faced this problem myself before.

When you are in the Main Menu, press the SELECT button, you will get a menu, there set CPU CLOCK XMB to DEFAULT.
