Pro's of the PSP:

Graphics on the PSP are really really awesome.

Playing Videos/Music on it is extremely and really cool than on the iPod touch.

Expandable with a single MS Pro Duo memory (I bought a 4GB one for around $40!) slot.

No need of any propreitary softwares (like itunes, which would be needed for the iPod Touch) to copy music to it. Just plug in the standard USB cable and drop in the music/videos to the Memory Card's (MS Pro Duo) appropriate folders.

TV out is good with the component cables.

It has got external speakers, so you need not always carry headsets/earphones (which I kinda hate) with you!

It's a very good gaming device, if that's one of your big priorities.

Frequent Firmware updates. The last one had internet radio. The next to come (by this month end) is the VoIP (Skype) functionality. The rumoured firmware update to come is the DivX capability.

The price of a PSP + the Changable Memory Card is way less than the iPod touch (if money is also a deciding factor).

Connectivity to PS3 (if you already own one or plan to own one later).

Replacable (by yourself) batteries. The new ones slated for release are supposed to increase 80% more "juice" on the Slim models!

Pros of iPOD Touch:

Internet experience is no doubt good on the touch.

It has got 802.11 b/g. PSP currently supports only 802.11 b.

The voice quality (with headphones/speakers) of the iPod touch is bound to be better than the PSP (but I doubt, if you would notice it as a casual listener!).

Touch functionality is kinda cool.

Cover Flow.

Smaller in size.

I hope it will help you :)

I have the iPod touch and i can vouch for its brilliant screen quality.

Watching movies on it is just awesome experience.

Anyways, you just got to make choice if you want a handheld gaming device which plays video or you need a PMP.

PSP is just great. Only two disadvantages, one UMD movies are too costly and you cannot press your own UMDs (although you can use MSPro). Secondly, PSP has it's own format, to which you have to convert your movies too before you transfer them.

But I don't think it will be much of an issue. Just to let you know. :)

And buy Slim & Lite. It supports better movie resolution than the old "phat" PSP.

OK Going for PSP. Whats maximum resolution SLIM one can support ?

I have the iPod Touch , and i can say that its a fun device to own especially after Jailbreaking it.

Disadvtages that ive faced on the touch till now --> iTunes >.< and the converting of video files to Mp4/2 first.

Slim can support 720x480 at 60 frames per second, up from 480x272 of "phat" PSP.

You can also output video playback at 480i and 480p over an (optional) very high quality analogue component cable that slots into the headphones socket.

Even i am thinking of buying a PSP next month after exams....Is it worth ?

I love Gaming,Watching movies....

But i don't want it to burn a hole in my pocket coz of games....

Thats cool. 720x480 at 60fps is really great which should be ultra smooth in playback.
Which all codecs it can support?

@OP:

No need for codecs on PSP. Only the converter needs to resemble the codecs when you convert the video to PSP format.
