Why do ppl buy ipods when the psp can do the same things and even more even though the interface is not as tacky. I mean isnt the ipod too hyped up whereas one shld get the new psp slim 2000 over it which is for 170$ only now and just buy 2 x 2Gb cards along with the 1gb which is bundled with the psp? Hows the sound quality of the inbuilt speakers of the psp coz i feel that its standout quality is that over the ipod(iphone is more than twice as expensive) and the screen on the psp is sexy. What would u pick considering only music purposes and a bit of gaming. Movies also lol:tongue:

I guess u did not check ma review....here let me help u http://www.techenclave.com/forums/sony-playstation-portable-98804.html

the sound quality is truly amazing ..........much better than the ipod nano i have heard.......the max sound is a bit on the lesser side ........so u mught b better off picking the Creative EP-630 ear-buds for about 850 bux in the Hot Deal n Discussions

i dnt think u get a 1GB card with the psp........but a 2GB costs about Rs1400.......besides since the movies are stored in mp4 format for the psp screen size the movie files are small

PSP anyday .. for me Ipod was always a bit hyped .... though its one sexy music player , i think its quite overpriced .... apple thingy's :p . ..... PSP anyday ....

ipod is meant for music and psp for games
playing games on ipod and music on psp is stoopid

I think u didnt understand me. My question was can psp handle movies and music just like the as well as the games on it?
Thx for answering guys.
I had a budget for 300$ as a present from a realtive.
Im gonna get the PSP 2000 Black 170$
4 GB Sony card = 60$
AVI CABLE = 20$
2 PSP SEXY GAMES(recommendations for the best pls, preferably fps if thats good on psp and one of them wlll be vice city stories i guess. Again recommendations pls=60$

here is the answer to your original qstn

the ipod n psp cater to different markets

if i want a tiny device that has decent capacity, i'll pick the nano

if i want something with tonnes of capacity, i'll picj the 80/160 GB ipod classic

if i don't mind the bulk but need an all in one package (incl gaming), I'll pick the psp

Why do ppl buy ipods when the psp can do the same things and even more even though the interface is not as tacky

Because multi-functionality is overrated as hell. People always prefer separate stuff for their various needs.

but i dont think the SQ of PSP is upto the mark..recently i used my EP -630 on a friend's PSP(older version) and the SQ was not that good..

even at full volume ..i couldn't here much i felt that the max volume is too low..and there's lack of punch\bass that you get in the i pod ..i really didnt like the idea of music on the PSP rest all is great. ..!

many people just want a simple and small mp3 player that easily plays their music. the PSP is a little too big to fit into that mainstream easily portable mp3 player market.

I never bought an Ipod. I carry my music around in mobile phones and use it as an mp3 player (ofcourse, I buy only those phones which give quality via headphones, like N70 (me) and 5700 now :P). And the PSP too, almost a good replacements for Ipods, where it does only one thing.

I used to do that, and I thought I'd never need an mp3 player. After I joined this job, I get a lot more calls and the increased battery usage doesn't let me listen to songs too much... I risk running out of battery and missing some important calls.

i was gonna say why ae u even comapring these things. well ipods are much smaller and just for msuci whereas the psp is obv for games etc. so u cant really compare them.

Well I dont like the IPOD that much and Wouldnt buy the PSP with music on my mind.....I'd rather get the Creative Zen Vision W.......

But between these to maybe PSB,....cause i love gaming:)

WHy would anyone carry 3 -4 cards and change them to listen to music .
PSP is to play , what Ipod is to music . :)

4Gb memory cards are easily available and 2 of those can easily hold lotsa music or even videos and some movies for that matter and u cant beat the PSP screen man. 4.7'' is killer. Basically the size is the only restriction in my mind and since the PSP is so much cheaper its a better package for everything IMO.:cool2:

I got a psp when they first came out and i still ove it now. I also have a 160 gig ipod classic, which i also think is great.

I use both for watching movies but never use the psp for music.

In my opinion they are as good as each other and it depends on the user.
