as i will be buying ATI x1900XT :ohyeah: from mr.Darklord i was hoping if u guys could suggest a suitable PSU to satisfy that moster card which i guess needs 30A on 12V rail (donno wt this means  ) and ofcourse for other stuff in my PC...
thanx

Go for an Antec NeoHE. It is for around 6K in India. A very good PSU.

And abt the Seagate 'Cuda, try going for the 7200.9 version and not the 7200.8 version.

Kidoman on this forum had bought the 7200.8 and it died on him http://www.techenclave.com/forums/the-inevitable-250-gb-hdd-kaput-67495.html. Another of my friends has just bought a 7200.8 and his idle temps are 45 deg C. That is simply too much.

dont go for Seagate simply because of the free HDD. You may as well go for Hitachi.

hmmm this is strange... i dont have any problems with my harddisk... its not that hot too... maybe its the 7200.9 ...or it might be coz i keep my case open.. oh well lucky me...
and the Antec NeoHE is it 550w or 500w??

500watts doesnt means tht too much based on ur config what matters how much amperes on rails.
i;d hghly suggest u to get Antec Neo HE 500 Watts with 3 rails anish is getting a batch of them pm him if ur interested.]

Nikhil Neo HE 550 isnt available here :bleh: its the 500 :)

the 7200.8 have what is described as the overheating issue. the drive runs hot and the heat causes it to fail. so its inevitable when it will fail. just might take longer in your case.

if you look at the back side of the drive, there is a small FPGA labelled "SMOOTH" thats the culprit chip and it malfunctions when the temparatures sore.

my case was mostly open. my 2 other raptors never crossed 36 C but the seagate idled at 40 going upto 45-47C in load. so it had to go kaput.

to recover data, i frooze the HDD (brough down temparatures drastically) then put a 80mm fan on top of it (actually on the bottom of it) then started backing up data. it worked out in the end.

now the disc is in RMA and i should be getting a new one in 2-3 days.

hope this helps,

karan
