PTP.org(PORT) and TL.org(Upload Rate) -- Help

Registered on PassThePopcorn.org and TorrentLeech.org three days ago.:D
1) When I logged in on PTP.org got the following message on home page...
Dear Site Users,
I am writing this up in the hopes that it will be a warning for what is to come. We have revamped our firewalls, hardware and software. These firewalls analyze, detect, and block unwanted intrusions into our servers. This software will detect port scans, ssh attacks, and other logical attacks. It will make a best effort to block those incoming packets based on rule-sets we introduce into its software.

If you make an inbound connection attempt on a port other than 80, 443, 2710 and 6660-6667, chances are your ip will be blacklisted from the site like a fat chick in a white t-shirt contest.

6660-6667 and 2710 are only open on the tracker and irc box, irc.passthepopcorn.org / please.passthepopcorn.org box. DO NOT ATTEMP TO CONNECT TO THOSE PORTS ON PassThePopcorn.org or passthepopcorn.org, you will be banned for 15 minutes or more.

This is to protect you and the network. Since its inception, we have blocked over 1000 ssh attempts and numerous port scans. Initial findings indicate no loss of performance on any box. Some tests are still underway though.

Does this mean that I have to set the above mention PORTS in uTorrent..??:huh:

2) Downloaded a torrent from TL.org and now have kept it for seeding in uTorrent....but my upload speed is not rising above 15-20 kbps..:@:@..on my 512kbps - 1Mbps(day-night) Airtel connection.

The torrent has round about 69 seeders and 125 leechers.....and I am uploading to more than 50 peers....but still the upload rate is not increasing above 20kbps.What could be the problem? Because of this my ratio is not increasing...:(

P.S : The torrent that I have download is more then 18gb in size(with 10 movies) and i have downloaded completely 3 movies and kept these for seeding.
 
1) No, you don't have to set uTorrent to use those ports. Port 80 is http, 443 is https..remaining ports i.e 6660-6667 and 2710 are for their tracker...you're supposed to do nothing....it is a warning for hackers that if they try to make attempt on any other ports i.e 50000 apart from those, their IP will be banned.

2) Follow the speedguide settings in uTorent.

You mean in Speed Guide I should select the connection type and test if port is properly forwarded....then I have done that during utorrent setup....and i also change the connection type every night when my speed increases to 1mbps....
 
For your second query, the reason for low uploads can be other people using seedbox and uploading at 500+ kBps to speeds in mBps and those peers extracting the maximum out of them.
 
hmmmm..might be....

even i thought that but in a different way..as in other seeders having greater internet speed than mine....

but will my utorrent still show more than 50 peers, even when they are leeching from higher speed seeders....??:S

Get into TL chat and explain to the mods that you will need more time to seed and get a minimum ratio. Else you will see yourself banned out forever.

Your mistake, you hit a pack on joining. Everywhere there are warnings about new users taking a pack as soon as they join. Did you never read??? I although doubt if you will be able to meet the basic ratio with a 18Gb leech.

right now my ratio is 0.7 and growing slowly will there be a problem..??:(

i have not downloaded the whole 18gb.....just 2.5gb odd.....and now seeding this 2.5 gb....

my bad never read regarding packs as this was the only torrent(and all different pack torrents) that had max leeches....so thought that i could download some 2 3 movies only and seed them atleast to start of....to increase upload and decrease wait times.....

most of the single movie torrent were having hundreds of seeders and some 20 30 leech.....:@
 
Pack leeches are actually partial seeders. Do not touch packs, until you have a decent ratio buffer to start with. And even then seed minimum 0.4 per torrent, else it counts in a hit and run.

0.7 is fine, just let it grow.

Explore outside seeding and partial seeding to grow your ratio. The TL forums have a good guide on each, or come into IRC chat and get an idea about the same.
