Guys..

This happened today morning. I received 2 missed calls while was was sound asleep.

I dont call back the numbers which i dont know, so didnt bothered with the numbers in the morning either. But while dialling a friend, I accidently clicked one of those number and ZAPP..! 65 rupees gone for 3-4 second duration of the call !

Reason: Some thing to the tune of "You have used international voice/video chat"

A colleague of mine inadvertently did the same (twice) on the other number, while fiddling with my phone and i got another billing of 15x2= 30 rupees.

Number were something like +37xxxxxx and +38xxxxx

I think its a croatian/holland number. I heard only some recorded instrumental song before i realised what i was doing and disconnected.

Upon googling, i found this is happening only on airtel and few others have got similar calls as well.

Dont know if this is the latest ploy by the Chindi-tel or the hoodlums picked up airtel series of number.. but beware.

was it some ....
Shut up re.

If it was something i had tried.. wudnt have been fuming one bit.. but this is just unthinkable if airtel pulled a smart one on the subscribers.

I am much too disappointed+blank to go and google+post links where others have reported similar incidents.

How is airtel to blame? If you were on Vodafone and received the same message and dialed the number by accident, the same balance would have been deducted. Are you implying airtel is sending these messages? or you want airtel to block international calls?

It is; if only Airtel users are getting such calls.

I recently download a game from nokia OVI and when my son was playing that; he clicked some thing and it registered me for daily videos and, deduct 30 + 100 (for some Java game); instantly. I called Airtel; spoke to the team lead/floor head; and he said that if called within 24 hours we can revert it.

It was more than 2 days in my case so I told him; if you can trust my word than "I have not used it; kindly revert;". He agreed.

Though I do not think they will revert this time as this is not some download but actual call; but why not try it once and at least update their response.

Its a common international scam.

They will give you a missed call from a premium number.

You call them back, you will be charged at premium rates and they will get a significant share of the money.

*They refers to scammers, not Airtel

i know.. i have been receiving calls on my airtel from our neighboring country.. everyday atleast 1-2 calls.. :S

Seems like a nice scam, can some1 start posting the numbers? SO we can avoid these and also if possible, the operators can blacklist these numbers.

Okay this happened to me but not the calling back but call from international number. :P I use Vodafone and got this call from international number, I picked up and there was no response. Checked the international code, turned out to be Germany. Didn't bother to call back, have no one I know in Germany right now. You have to be careful with such things, Airtel cant really be blamed this time unfortunately :P
