Guys , i was looking for a good deal in the Market section, and came along this deal

and there are two guys willing to part their Quaddys at a nice price,

tusharratsogi (7k)[Delhi] and xcuseme1978 (6k) [Kolkata]

so i contacted xcuseme1978 and was taking to him in the yahoo messenger.

this is our entire chat conversation.

i asked xcuseme1978 for a coupla pictures of the Products (Q6600 + Ip35-E + Corsair 4GB for 15k) but he said he doesnt have a camera or cam mobile. (fishy for a guys who said he is getting a Q9650 and going abroad)

and then i asked him for his mobile and he said he dosnt have a mobile at all(even stranger....)

then as a last resort i asked him if he has a friend to vouch for him , he said yes and said his friends name was "Tushar Ratsogi" and gave me his number to which i called up and spoke, and that tushar guy vouched for his friend.

He then gave his HDFC account, and guess whats the name of the account was??? "Tushar Ratsogi"

so i got really suspicious and PM'd the mods, but they are yet to reply me about this matter.

but my guess is that two guys ip's would be same.

So guys we have a scammer among us, please lets kill him , or on a softer voice take some resolute action against him :)

Its unfortunate I have to post this in public but nothing else can be done.
There is too much evidance in our hands.

a TE member tusharrastogi seems to have tried to cheat 2 fellow TE members by creating a duplicate id xcuseme1978.

He using username "xcuseme1978" told other members that he is friend of tushar. He even told 1 member who i am sure will reply here that his name is also Tushar Rastogi.
When these 2 member got suspicious of really low prices offered by this xcuseme1978, they contacted us. We ran IP checks. And from the start, IP addresses of these 2 guys are matching to be exact same on that day.

He also claimed that xcuseme1978 works with him to 1 guys and on other instance he told someone else he stays near him and studies in kolkata.
And he also told 1 member he is from kolkata today when even today his ip is clearly from delhi.

We even have transcripts of few conversations which i wont make public here.

We stongly advice you NOT TO pay or send tushar rastogi from Delhi or Kolkata anything in advance. And if in future guy with same name tries to deal with you, make sure its face to face deal.

Other members whom he tried to scam are free to share their info here.
Tushar, if you wish to challange this claim and state your side, you can contact us using contact us form or PM me or any other mod. I can assure you your side will be heard.
People please avoid making this into pure stone throwing thread and avoid disrespectful language.

hmmm there is something surely fishy . why cant he deliver to to someones place like udit or some other member whos known in that region ie. calcutta and take cash from him , thats the best way to know if he really exists .

or ship it to tushar rustogi and i will pay cash to him and pick it, i see tushar is from delhi he had contacted me once.

Memnom- such a long convo but i didn't catch you asking xcuseme1978 his full name?? :S

iirc, this tushar is the same guy who kept starting several threads for the same old stuff again and again after closing the old one where he is enlightened by others.
Also doesnt posts prices after having been suggested what to expect for his goods. :(

and 8600GT, selling Polyview LCD for a ridiculously high rate(maybe the only guy on TE with a polyview :lol:)- surely rings a bell.
 
he did same thing with me , xcuseme sent me pm that he wants to sell his Q6600 at 6k , he told his name is Mayank Jaiswal , later tushar contacted me in yahoo messenger and said xcuseme is his friend and is selling his rig and going abroad ... i said i am ready to buy it but i will only pay once he ships it and sends the tracking details to me ... he said no . then i asked him to give me his phone number ... he said he does not give his mobile number to people on internet ... then i say i cant trust u and wont buy ..... after some time he logged of messenger and suddenly excuseme logged on ( both were same people ) , xcuseme said he already has someone who wants to buy his processor ( memnom ) , i said ok i will find some other seller ... he still tried to convince me and when i said i have a friend in delhi who could pick the processor and pay cash , he said its already sold ..... and logged off messenger ... then tushar logged on .... means both were same guys ie. tusharrastogi and was trying to cheat by getting money from both me and memnom and run away after that ..:@
 
man......thats the problem of internet, the more bigger you grow the more scammers you will get, this tushar guy was hell bent on coming to my residence to check out my rig and stuff like that, he might have robbed me off my rig :ohyeah: :ohyeah: :ohyeah: :ohyeah:

PS : This was just in a lighter note.

But its really sad, we do so much of transactions based on trust, and something like this shakes us out of our lumber.

I am sure everyone on TE faces this question often. I like the trust we have had here. But seems its time to bump up the requirements in market section.

Memnom had mentioned this and it was under consideration long time back, that we should have compulsory posting of pics of the hardware on sale. Crazy_Eddy had suggested that a chit with the member name be kept next to the hardware in the pic for additional confirmation.

It wasnt implemented due to the fact that most members did not have cam back then. But now even the most basic of cellphones have at least a vga cam.

I think we might end up implmenting this soon. All we have to decide is whether we must go about it in phase (make it recommended first) or make it compulsory straight away.
 
Ya its a very good measure ....and ya may be we can put it in pilot phase for a week or two ...then compulsory :)

Also on AT forums I see the blacklisted ppl's name & full address /contact no/yahoo id being posted. That way if somehw he gives out his even say his bank account no....it will be very easy to publicly huilate or nab him :)....that will teach the person a good enough reason nt to try & register again :)

Since we have some sort of HDFC A/c No....and in case tushar doen't appear here...we can make sure he gets a good nab. We can try finding the details of the person. Delhi members or anyone having contacts in HDFC can find it out :)....this things shouldn't be let go unpunished :( thats what I feel.....set an example so anyone trying this in future has it in mind.
 
awww^^^ lost my N93 yesterday but now in dilemna of either buying a 1000 buck basic cell or go all out with a N82 or something of that sort, above requirement wud mean, i wud have to buy a 20k cell, :(
 
man u lost a cell , something bad s been going. get a basic cell :D. I think the snap idea is very good. if u have a thing running inside ur pc . stick a chit on the cabinet and click some photo's type .
 
one more skeptical thing was memnom kept bargaining like crazy and that guy went into it like crazy

it was 16k + shipping (nearly 300 - 400 bucks ) and that guy was askin in the end that do u want it 15k shipped

whoa 1.5k shaved off in 1 hr.. thats one helluva bargaining

and yea once again ... YAHOO LOGS came to the rescue :ohyeah: :ohyeah:
 
I am a little new here, but the first deal i tried to do here was with tushar only

for a 8600gt card, but he did not wanted to give his number or his address or anything and he was also talking rudely:huh: , i sensed something fishy just before making the transaction to his account, and thank GOD i was saved, if i was robbed in the very first deal i tried to made, i would have had very bad impression for such wonderful forums and the world of Online shopping :( . Later I made a deal with Shade(Very good person to deal with :) ) and had my first online trading experience :hap2: and that too for a good 7600gt card for 2.2k shipped :P

I would not mind sharing my PM's with him to prove my point, if anyone wants them, but trust me this guys is a scammer :@ and this community needs to take care of guys like this, otherwise such wonderful communities would not be able to realize its complete potential :no:
 
how about posting a proof of identification like copy of voter id to mods on first deal(sellers only) as a one time process.

His will stop Us from dealing with Fraudsters
 
or making it cumpolsory for sellers to post an ID like voter card etc. in your profile (which can only be seen by the mods)

I completely agree, posting of the the product that you are selling along with your user ID & date (hand written) has to be made a must. And you must post it while creating the thread.
implementing this rule will also allow people to see the actual product, atleast visiual condition.
This rule is followed in XS and so far its been pretty good.
