heh, heh, just went thru the whole thread. He contacted me yesterday and was asking for 8 2408s. I told him for that many orders, I'll hook him up with my Dell contact directly.

But then he said, he wants 1 now for "testing" and 7 later. And the icing is, he wants to pay later and wants me to buy the LCD for him now. Thank god I didn't have the money to do that!

Shouldn't be posting private conversations, but this guy's obviously a scammer. Even if he hadn't taken the LCD without payment, at the least I would be stuck with a very expensive LCD.

And for someone who call us bastards, right back at u.
 
lol..the 8 LCD query was probably to tempt you into his scam...

Wonder what address he wud have wanted it to be shipped to.
 
Considering so many issues with this chump, I think ban is the best option. Not just ban the id, ban the damn ip.

Not much help if he's on dynamic. What actually is needed is thread crapping :P by respected members in GOs/ deals to safeguard n00bs. In the long run , us members will have to self police.
 
guys im new here and very new to online trading.. just had one deal with 200mph.. after reading this im really scared to buy expensive stuff online.. i wanted to know that if someone cheats us, what can we do to recover our money...
 
^din expect this from you...u know thee will always return with a new ip..so better leave the id & just keep people notified. lol

Ip in most cases are dynamic, so itsn't effective

Also, it does more harm than good.

Suggestion

Deal with money greater than 10k should be checked more closely

Banning or taking stern action against this member is the right way to go. There are hordes of scammers,spammers and cheats on the web. If this guy gets away lightly tomorrow we may have 100 more following his footsteps.

And what we need is a 'Care and Precautions to avoid being scammed' sticky in the market section.
Also adding a few examples of how people are scammed would be great.
Edit: and how about a hall of shame / scam gallery?

few months ago he befriended me & took my full name, address & phone number so now he could scam using my name :O

what do i do now ? :(

well he asked me for 8 2408wfps too...
but to me he was ready to pay for the 1st one upfront .. and said he wud buy the rest only after likin the 1st...

wats wrong in this ???

many ppl do the same to WOOO the GO creators to obtain more better prices.

i really dont know if he is a scammer or not... but to me he did talked sense.

i think there should be a sticky topic in the market section that should warn people about such kind of scams and a basic guideline on how to deal/how to make a smooth trade without getting cheated and there should be a separate section for reporting such people ...
