Car & Bike Pulsar 180 or Unicorn???

Pulsar 180! raw masculine power in that machine! and a good solid build.

unicorn will start to rattle and cry after a few weeks. personal experience with lots of bikes, so i know. :)

man these bikes are of totally differernt league ... Pulsar will obviously give some nice power to play with but i believe pulsar engines are not tough has honda's (because i own it :)) unicorns overall performance is very impressive ......

just test drive n decide wat suits u the best .... drive it n believe it .....:D

For real awesome performance and smooth engine, Unicorn ftw. Personally ridden it (Sudarshan_SMD has it, PM him), it's the best bike in it's segment. If you want Power and blah blah go for Pulsar, but I really dont like Bajaj bikes at all

new pulsar 180 engine is Uber smooth.. i assume no1 here has ridden both Pulsar 180 : 2009 edition and Honda Unicorn. I have.

My 2 cents:

1. Both have a uber smooth engine

2. Honda unicorn is very noisy at 80kmph + and takes lots of time to go uptil there. Whereas the new pulsar 180 has got improved engine and absolutely no rattle even if u go uptil 100kmph!

3. If u like a race/ride fast, then Pulsar has got much better Stance, Grip, Turning, Acceleration, Top speed than the unicorn. The Unicorn touches the road when turning @70kmph and i absolutely hate this

4. Unicorn has got a much better mileage than Pulsar if you commute on heavy traffic city roads.

5. Unicorn is considerably cheaper.

Choice is yours :hap2:

I heard +ve about Suzuki GS150R.but remember ,it is not a sprinter as portrayed in ads.Unicorn is so common now.OTOH ,TVS Apache 180 too can be considered.Apache->Gem of a Engine. :)

the only thing that i didnt like in unicorn is the gearbox,,makes noise,,,for pulsar its smooth,,but there r many other problems in pulsar!!:D

Thats not true,I own a Honda Unicorn for almost 1.4 yrs and travelled 16,789kms on it

It gives me that rattling sound pass 100kmph and doesn't even take long to reach 80kmph

It depends on your gear shifting skills mate !!

+1 for Honda Unicorn

Bajaj Bikes are waste,I don't even recommend talking the 150Cc pulsar

All go useless and the pickup drops after a certain 3,000kms (Self tested and experienced)

If you guys have seen the new Pulsar 220Cc advertisement, says its the Fastest Indian

Wtf,HeroHonda Karizma beats that FASTEST INDIAN

And plus Honda Engines are rock solid with nice performance

Go for a Honda Unicorn

- Best bike in its category

- Zero Maintenance(Take care in rainny season, every bike needs to be taken care of in that period )

- Nice Average

- Best suited for city roads + Highway travelling

Current Auto Companies Standings -

1. Hero Honda

2. Honda

3. TVS

4. Bajaj

^true!!!if any boby wants to c how reliable honda engines r google for Honda Cup!!!(the original M80,,ya bajaj copied the design)

Just 1 question: Have you driven the New pulsar 180 :2009 edition?

if no, then kindly Stop the Fanboy stuff please (no offense here, but really sad when you compare bikes by the advertisements!)

Bajaj Pulsar also has complains regarding the Disc-breaks

Lots of accidents have been reported

Thats why Bajaj is changing the Design of its bikes,Pulsar 180Cc 2009 is a result of the reports

Plus,@OP if you can wait till Dec 2009 or Jan 2010

Honda is releasing a Honda Unicorn 220Cc

(Dunno the exact Date but got the info. from an Indsider at Honda )

The main problem with bajaj is that,as it goes on releasing new models and bikes the older ones and bikes are no more produced

For example - Bajaj Caliber,Bajaj Caliber125

See Hero Honda on the other side, still producing Splender :hap2:

I support. Moreover Don't think pulsar 220 dts-i is the same as 220 dts-fi .because -the Engine has got improvements -more on long lasting the build.read it @zigwheels IIRC.

:) Sorry, but taking the new model stratedgy by Bajaj on a positive note here:

Oldest Bajaj P150 : Performance but lacks build quality and has gearbox issues. P180: Better built but bad mileage.

next gen

DTSi : attention on mileage and cleaner exhausts. also on better shockers. but still some issues.

Competition from unicorn, apache n cbz extreme builds up

next gen

220 DTs-Fi : Performance but 2 discs come up with strong braking and Disc brake issues at the same time

200 Dtsi : Learned from previuos issues and created a Very nice bike

180 dtsi n 150 dtsi: Good, but still getting thrashed by Unicorn because Better VFM, Quality product offered by honda.. 180cc bikes sales taken away by apache RTR.

next gen

180 DTSI 2009: All past issues solved. A Motoring GEM is Born...

2009 Bajaj Pulsar 180 DTSi: Beefed-up Brute!- Reviews- Zigwheels

..............

@OP: PLease take test drive of both before the purchase :hap2:

@YashBhatt

You mean to say, ZMA is the fastest Indian then?

I pity you. ZMA might have the power, but isnt built for extreme speeds. It ll start loosing its stability after 130~135kmph.

Have an R15 test driven thru highway. Its rock solid eben at 150+kmph, though engine is not as powerful as P220 or ZMA.

And how come TVS ahead of bajaj? And you cannot put Honda on top just due to one gr8 bike [unicorn].

btw, it seems you are terribly misleaded by some beliefs.:p

^ r15 does 150 kmph?!!! :O

and prandi said unicorn gearbox makes noise? which bike has a smoother engine+gearbox combo than the unicorn? :p

I've clocked 32k to date on the unicorn in roughly over 2 years.. the only major problem i've faced is a minor bend in the alloys, need to change them.. if not keep servicing the bike on time, and its a gem of an engine + extremely comfortable..... Keeping current bikes in mind, I'd suggest u take a look at the RTR 180 and the Yamaha Fazer...
