Car & Bike Pulsar 180 or Unicorn???

P180 & Unicorn are bikes from diffrent league.

IF you want to test some RAW power, want sporty feeling, you need good performace then it's P180.

Personally I haven't tested P180:2009. But, I can say that I see many Pulsars going dabba around here. Built quality is not good, engine is not smooth(again, I haven't tested P180).
Unicorn:
With Unicorn, you will get the most refined engine in INDIA(under 250cc).

Unicorn give Best mileage in it's class (150cc segment).

pros:-
Refined smooth engine
Reliability
good mileage
Built quality is good
comfortable riding position(unlike other 150cc bikes, which have racy riding position)

I have done 10k on my Unicorn & haven't faced any problem with. I am satisfied with my bike.
I have done a top speed 101kmph with a Pillon rider, but havent experienced any rattles.
Bikes does 90kmph in no time(offcourse slower than P180).

Test drive both bikes, If you feel P180:2009 is smooth & are willing to buy it, just keep in mind though you won't get good mileage on it & it's more pricy than Unicorn.

What we could do are suggestion. Finally you have to decide yourself which way to go.

@dominator:150kmph on speedo may be a true 120-125kmph.The Speeds are verified using Speed Guns.I think manufacturers purposefully tune the speedos for a higher speed reading. :D

moreover ,r15 got ECU mapping to limit it's top speed. But last week or so ,Yamaha announced R15 racing kits.

Top speed on an R15 is 148kmph on speedo which translates into 135kmph with a speed gun or gps. Besides all manufacturers have speedo error built into their speedometers.

As for the OP query: The two bikes in question are as different as chalk and cheese. The unicorn is an comfortable commuter while the Pulsar is an sporty bike which does the commuting bit as well. However bajaj bikes are really not up to the mark when it comes to reliability, build quality. The cost cutting is rampant which results in niggles, issues and importantly the bikes start vibrating after even 2k of useage. The less i say about the smoothness of the engine the better.

Post your intentions of using the bike so member can post their suggestions. If commuting + touring is your priority then i'd suggest the Fz16 which is an adept bike at both duties. The build quality, smoothness, vibe free experience, performance is worth the extra cost over the unicorn. Plus it's an forgiving handler incase you are new to biking.

@others: Please dont comment about a bike based on previous versions..

You dont Say Windows 7 is bad because Windows 7 beta had bugs in it!

Read the review of P180:09 incase you are worried about smooth engine, mileage, build quality, stability, cornering..im sure you'll be blown away..

And whats written in the zigwheel review is very TRUE.. tested it myself.

(PS: Ive also tested Unicorn for a week, And now another cousin's P180:09 is at my place since 3-4weeks. it has past the 3k mark already and the build quality as written in zigwheel review is purely noticeable.)

The OP is busy creating new threads..

He created a Thread "Best bike in 40k-55k budget" yesterday...

Obviously he cant afford the P180:09, so no use talking about it.

Honda Unicorn is his only choice.

^^No offence Sato but zigwheels reviews are mere PR exercises. Loads of bollocks, i'd take their reviews with bucketloads of salt.

Yes sir i agree :) But thats what im saying... Zigwheels review about the P180:09 is very TRUE (Cause even i felt the same changes upon riding the bike)

i googled for more reviews and they all go on the same note.

OT: Any other site which features trusted reviews? (I wish to know more about the Stunner, a friend of mine is confused about which commuter is best for him)

Ofcourse no one's denying the fact that the newer pulsar iteration is better than the outgoing model. But so far no one done a shoot-out of the models at the similar price range so claiming the new pulsar is the best vis-a-vis the performance, reliability, smoothness etc is incorrect. Check out the Autocar Pulsar 180 review which is a much more balanced one.

As for the OT refer to user experiences on Xbhp.com and make up your mind.

the gearbox is noisy for sure(choppy) but the engine is smooth....btw i meant it makes noise while changing gears,,,well all bikes do,,but unicorn makes more noise than the pulsar!!

^ r15 does 150 kmph?!!! :O

and prandi said unicorn gearbox makes noise? which bike has a smoother engine+gearbox combo than the unicorn? :p

I've clocked 32k to date on the unicorn in roughly over 2 years.. the only major problem i've faced is a minor bend in the alloys, need to change them.. if not keep servicing the bike on time, and its a gem of an engine + extremely comfortable..... Keeping current bikes in mind, I'd suggest u take a look at the RTR 180 and the Yamaha Fazer...

that's not true.... it depends on condition of bike... i have 4.5yrs old Unicorn.... and i have never faced such sound. so smooth. Service centre guys admire my bike....that too after i crossed 60k+. pick-up, gearbox, engine.... all just perfect.

i have ridden two unicorn till date, those might not been serviced properly:D,,well let him take a test of the new vehicle!!!

and r15 cannot do 150 for sure!!!it might do 140kph tops,,again stock ie
